Former NFL star Tim Tebow says, “You don’t have to wonder if your life matters.”
“We can’t fix everything. But we can make sure no one is overlooked,” Tebow wrote in an Instagram post on Aug. 25. “Every person is fearfully and wonderfully made. Let’s live like we believe it.”
Tebow helps people all over the world know that their life matters through his organization’s Night to Shine events. On one night every year across the globe, people with disabilities celebrate their worth at a fun gala called Night to Shine.
“At Night to Shine, I’ve seen what just one moment of love can do,” Tebow said recently. “It’s not about the red carpet or the crowns. It’s about someone finally realizing, maybe for the first time, they’ve always had worth.”
“Why? Because they’re made in the image of God,” the Heisman Trophy winner continued. “Will we come together and not just share and express this worth once a year during Night to Shine, but every day share the love and value of people with disabilities and the vulnerable?”
Tebow, whose beliefs are based on biblical principles, says everyone is created with a purpose.
“I believe that it is possible for every single one of us to have, to truly have, a life that counts,” he previously told Fox News Digital. “God created each of us to have a unique, awesome purpose, and it’s why we’re here.”
He talks about this in his book, Mission Possible. He wrote it with the intention to encourage others about the “significance” and purpose in their lives.
“I believe that every single person on this earth has a purpose. There’s a reason we all exist. There are things we were meant to do,” he explained.
“And I think for me, what’s really important, and what’s sometimes very hard to do, is to focus on what matters. I think, sometimes, for us, as we go about our days, it’s just so easy to get caught up in the things that don’t matter. I wanted to encourage us to get back to the things that truly matter in life,” he said.
He says the world will tell you to choose things for instant gratification and give in to all of your desires. But what you want “most” is usually better than what you want “now,” and it’s best to focus on the bigger picture.
“In the book, I share my thoughts about living for eternity, for things that are going to last forever. And so much of that is focused on people, and on how we treat others,” he said. “It’s about how we can love people, how we can make a difference for other people.”
Tebow is a great example of what a God-fearing man looks like. He truly lives his life to serve God and help others, whether that’s through encouragement, rescues for human trafficking victims or creative initiatives.
