Trump’s Truth Social Launches ‘Uncancellable’ Streaming Service

Those on former President Donald Trump’s Truth Social can now access Truth+ — a streaming service created by Trump Media and Technology Group.

“We’re working to create an uncancellable infrastructure network — both hardware and software — that is owned and operated by TMTG,” CEO Devin Nunes stated.  “Truth Social is determined to become the unassailable fortress of free speech on the Internet.”

The streaming service will include news, commentary and weather but plans to expand to Christian and family-friendly content.

Truth+ will eventually be available on Apple IOS, Android devices and home TVs.

“The streaming feature of the platform will soon allow a 14-day interactive show guide with replay of any programs for the past seven days, video on demand, and a network DVR,” the Washington Examiner reported.

News of the streaming service might be the boost that Truth Social needs, as they have seen decreasing traffic as Newsweek reported a drop in unique visitors over the last two years since Trump launched the platform.

Newsweek reported a drop of 38% in July of 2,112,000 new visitors over 3,407,000 new visitors last July.

“Three months of declining Truth Social traffic feels like negative trend for the Trump-owned platform,” Howard Polskin, president of TheRighting, said.

Polskin told Newsweek that Trump’s “grievance-filled” posts could be to blame for the dip in traffic.

“The most negative posts appeal to his base, but that base may be shrinking,” he said.  “Let’s see what the rest of the summer brings.”

Meanwhile, since the launch of Truth+, TMTG saw a 7% increase in stock prices.

In the same spirit as Truth Social was made to be a “safe harbor” for the exchange of ideas and information, Nunes wants Truth+ to “be a reliable home for great TV content that is neglected by the big corporations or is at risk of cancellation,” The Hill reported.

Movieguide® previously reported about the launch of Truth Social in February 2022:

“What makes Truth Social different!? We are a social media platform that is free from political discrimination. Join us and share, communicate, and have fun!” the app’s description reads.

The app went live on Feb. 20, at around midnight, and automatically downloaded to users’ phones who pre-ordered Truth Social.

The app skyrocketed to No. 1 on the App Store, but users who did not pre-order the app were put on a waitlist before using Truth Social.

However, users are still able to create an account. The notification reads: “Your account has been created successfully! Thank you for Joining! Due to massive demand, we have placed you on our waitlist. We love you, and you’re not just another number to us. But your waitlist number is below.”

Trump announced plans to launch a social media alternative after Twitter and Facebook banned his accounts following the Jan. 6 Capitol Hill riots.
