FAST AND FURIOUS is back on the road after a long hiatus.
After years of uncertainty, fans of the franchise finally have a date for when the next chapter in the long-running action series will arrive in theaters: March 17, 2028.
Titled FAST FOREVER, the next installment will debut five years after the previous one, 2023’s FAST X.
Star Vin Diesel announced the exciting update on Instagram, alongside a photo of him and his late FAST co-star, Paul Walker, who died in 2013.
“No one said the road would be easy…but it’s ours. One that has defined us and become our legacy…And a legacy…lasts Forever. March 17th 2028! FAST FOREVER,” he said in the caption of the post.

FAST FOREVER has been in the works for a while.
In February 2024, Diesel said, “Just finished our end of the week Fast meeting with the writers and the whole team…to say the excitement for our finale was incredibly powerful is an understatement. This grand finale is not just an ending; it’s a celebration of the incredible family we’ve built together. Hope to make you proud!”
Last summer, the actor stipulated that he wanted his character to reunite with Walker’s Brian O’Conner, though he didn’t explain how that would be done, if he was going to be part of another movie.
In a Instagram post following those comments, co-star Tyrese Gibson supported Diesel’s decision: “Those of us who’ve had the honor of knowing you personally and intimately…We all know the truth: you’ve never been the same since you lost your brother, Paul Walker. None of us have. We saw it in your eyes when FURIOUS 7 wrapped. We feel it in the way you carry Paul’s legacy-not as a burden, but a sacred calling. You turned grief into purpose.”
He added, “You’ve done more than lead this franchise. You’ve sacrificed for it. You’ve carried the pressure in silence and the spotlight with grace. You’ve made inclusion real.”
The most recent FAST installment had some positive elements. Movieguide® celebrated FAST X’s “Strong Christian, moral worldview includes verbal and visual references to faith, Jesus and the Cross.”
Part of the review reads:
FAST X contains some impressive action sequences. The chase sequence involving the bomb headed to Vatican City is very exciting. FAST X increases the personal stakes in the franchise by having the villain target Dom’s son. Cleverly, the filmmakers link Dom’s protection of his son with overt references to faith and Jesus. The movie promotes family, honor and sacrifice. FAST X has significantly less foul language than recent FAST & FURIOUS movies, but it’s still slightly excessive. So, MOVIEGUIDE® advises extreme caution.
Though fans don’t know much yet about FAST FOREVER, they’re certainly happy to know when they can expect it in theaters.
