Want to ‘Stay Full of God?’ This AMERICAN IDOL Alum Has the Answer

Danny Gokey just shared the four things you can do to “stay on fire and stay full of God.”

“Do you feel like your Christian life is like a yo-yo?” he asked in an Instagram video. “You’re up and down, up and down. You feel like you’re full of God one day, the love of God. Then you’re like, ‘Where’s God’s love today?’ You know, the Bible says He’ll never leave us, nor forsake us. So if He’s not leaving us, maybe it’s us who’s growing cold to God and we’re drifting away.”

Gokey referred his followers to Romans 1:21 — “For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.”

“If we do the opposite of these four things, we can actually stay on fire and stay full of God,” he said, telling his followers to “constantly give Him thanks and praise [and] stay thankful.”

The AMERICAN IDOL alum concluded, “If we stay on fire and full for God, we’re going to have to stay praising, stay thankful in all circumstances, guarding our hearts and guarding our minds. This is how we stay full of God.”

He frequently shares encouraging messages with fans who might be struggling in their faith. In one recent post, Gokey wrote, “Do you feel stuck? Maybe what you’re facing is not your fault, but you also can’t wait for others to fix things for you …”

“Rise above the bitterness,” he counseled his followers. “Pick up the ‘mat’ of depression you’re laying on. Don’t allow your emotions to keep you stuck. Today is a new day! Believe that God has great things in store for you. Hope & healing are possible, with Him.”

The singer-songwriter recently celebrated a new beginning in his musical career; Gokey just signed with Red Street Records.

“I’m incredibly excited about this new chapter,” he said in a statement. “After years in this industry, I’ve learned that it’s about partnering with people who truly believe in your vision and are invested in the journey.”

He continued, “Jay Demarcus, Jason McArthur and the team at Red Street get what I’m trying to do musically and in ministry, and having that focused support means everything. I’ve always believed that music is more than entertainment; it’s about reaching people with hope and encouragement when they need it most.”

“This isn’t just about making music; it’s about making music that matters and reaching people in a deeper way,” Gokey concluded. “I can’t wait to see what we build together.”
