Influencer Brittany Lutz thanks God for her husband, recently sharing a vulnerable video of her and her husband, TWILIGHT star Kellan Lutz, worshipping together.

“When I was a little girl, I prayed for and dreamt of the day I’d get married,” she wrote in the caption. “I prayed for a strong man of God who would pray over me, lead our family in the things of God and love Jesus as much as I did, if not more.”

“I could see us sharpening each other,” she continued, referencing Proverbs 27:17, “and loving each other like Christ loves the church and I was SO excited to meet him one day.”

Unfortunately, Lutz experienced what far too many women do: an abusive relationship that crushed her dreams.

“I had a bad relationship where abuse was present, I was made to feel totally replaceable and stupid, and my worth and value became nonexistent,” she said. “It broke me. I should have never gone down that road to begin with but there were consequences to my actions, and I found myself completely broken.”

Lutz explained that what she went through caused her to believe the lie that she “was unworthy of that Godly man.” Her prayers changed from “I want a husband who will take me to church and lead me in the things of God” to “Well he goes to church with me and has a good attitude. That’s good enough.”

Thankfully, God stepped in and changed her mindset: “One day the Holy Spirit convicted me. ‘Why did you stop praying for and believing for that Godly man? If he is full of my Spirit, he will look at you with MY eyes. He will see you pure and whole as I do. You just have to let me heal your heart and mind. It’s all under the blood of Jesus.’”

Lutz confessed, “It was a hard switch, but I stopped praying for someone who would go to church WITH me and started allowing the mighty power of God to heal and restore my soul and started believing again God would bring me a man of God who would TAKE ME to church.”

Lutz concluded with a word of encouragement.

“Don’t pray small prayers that you can control,” she said. “Don’t believe the lies of the enemy. Let God renew your mind, so you are able to actually start dreaming God sized dreams again. The best is still ahead of you.”

The couple wed in 2017 and frequently speak about their marriage.

“The Bible talks about how powerful it is to do life together for when one falls the other can help them up,” Brittany wrote in another post featuring a sweet photo of her and Kellan. “Marry someone who will always help you up, who will always make a priority to see you, and who has the same vision you do to build something that lasts.”

Kellan and Brittany display a good example of a Godly marriage.

God’s word shows us what a good marriage looks like in Ephesians 5. Verses 25-27 say, “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing[b] her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.”

Whether you are single, dating, engaged or married, it’s never too late to pray that your marriage honors God.
