Why Candace Cameron Bure Creates Faith-Based Content in ‘Cultural Desert’

Candace Cameron Bure and Great American Family’s CEO Bill Abbott are committed to providing families with moral, faith-based movies.
“I think we want to create an oasis in a cultural desert,” Bure told Fox News Digital.
“I think that the culture overall needs it,” Abbott added. “There is just so little content out there that serves family and faith and is done in a quality way. And so that is a very big part of what our mission is and what we do, and the demand is huge.”
The network’s commitment to quality, family-friendly content has caused it to become TV’s fastest-growing network, thanks to eleven consecutive months of growth. Bure – the company’s chief creative officer – and Abbott are also committed to honoring the military through their projects.
“They really are appreciative that we honor faith, family and country and that we are pro-country and we love America and we’re grateful for their service,” Bure said. “So I know it means a lot to them that we honor them and we want to in really big ways because we know that we wouldn’t be here in peace without them.”
The duo recently held a special screening of their upcoming movie MY CHRISTMAS HERO for military members at Joint Army and Air Force Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM).
“It’s a joy to be here,” Bure said at the pre-screening event. “We’ve met many people, [with] huge smiles on their faces, which are bringing us so much joy. But I know that they’re really happy that we’re here. And it’s a place where they whole family can come to watch the movie tonight. And that’s special for us because that’s who our movies are for, the whole family together.”
“What comes across for me is the dedication that these military members have [shown],” Abbott added. “It’s remarkable how the service of the country is so passionate and so authentic and such a part of their DNA. And we feel very, very blessed to have people like that protecting the country. Our network is all about celebrating faith, family and country. And so it’s a privilege to be here.”
Bure stars in MY CHRISTMAS HERO. “US Army reservist and orthopedic physician, Nicole Ramsey (Bure) is dedicated to service military service members and their families at the Joint Military Base in Lacey, Washington, home of I Corps and the 62nd Airlift Wing. This Christmas, with the help of many dedicated heroes, Dr. Ramsey is on a mission to honor a special fallen soldier and bring much needed healing in her own family,” Great American Family explained.
The movie, part of Great American Christmas, will premiere Friday, Nov. 24 at 8 p.m. EST / 7 p.m. CST.

Great American Family and Candace Cameron Bure teamed up for a special premiere of their movie MY CHRISTMAS HERO to honor real military heroes.
“We truly enjoyed the opportunity to salute these real Christmas heroes as the premiere of MY CHRISTMAS HERO on the joint Base,” Bure said in a press release. “It was fitting to host this screening here at JBLM because that’s where the movie’s story is set.”
The red-carpet event was held on Nov. 15 at the joint Army and Airforce base Lewis-McChord in Washington state.
