LITTLE RASCALS star Bug Hall revealed that after struggling with substance addiction for years and deciding he no longer wanted to be a part of the entertainment industry, he is taking his family off the grid.

“I didn’t want to go to work some job that was basically meaningless, making widgets to entertain people or distract people,” Hall told The Daily Mail, explaining why he left the entertainment industry in 2020.

“It was a hard realization, but it was something that I was pretty firm on, and I still am,” he continued. “The irony was that I loved the work. I wasn’t sort of disillusioned in terms of my love of work. I really, really loved it. I loved film and TV and the process of storytelling, more than any of you.”

Hall and his wife recently bought an 80-acre plot in Arkansas where they plan to go completely off the grid, creating electrical and plumbing systems that operate using an on-property hydro-electric dam.

Many in the industry have left Hollywood in recent years and found incredible freedom away from the stifling environment of LA. Blake Shelton, for example, has found relief returning to his roots in Oklahoma.

“The last couple of years, especially since I’ve retired from THE VOICE, I’ve just kind of been trying to be very mindful of the next thing that I do, be thoughtful about it and be sure that I’m not just doing things because I’m on the hamster wheel anymore,” Shelton told PEOPLE in November of 2024. “It happens, and before you know it, you go, ‘My ***, where have the last 10 years gone?’”

“I really, and I mean really indulged in not being on a television show anymore. It’s just been great for me to get back in the mode of, ‘Hey, I’m a country singer first.’ That’s what I left Ada, Oklahoma when I was a teenager to go be,” he continued. “I never want to get that far away from what I feel like I meant to do ever again.”

The number of major actors leaving Hollywood has accelerated since 2020, and this trend will likely continue to speed up as the industry becomes less centralized for a variety of reasons. This allows many actors to continue to work full time while living away from LA. As more and more productions leave Hollywood, more and more celebrities will realize that they do not need to stay in the city in order to find work.
