‘Live Beyond Death’: Why Phil Robertson Encourages People To Study The Bible

By Movieguide® Contributor

DUCK DYNASTY’s Phil Robertson wants people to know that studying the Bible doesn’t have to be difficult or intimidating.

“Where do you start to be a daughter or a man of God?” he said in a YouTube video. “Just start in Matthew.”

Robertson advised reading “the last two or three pages” of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

“It’s your ticket off planet Earth alive,” he explained. “It’s going to be impossible for death to keep his hold on you. You can live beyond physical death. You live on. I’m accepting it by faith; so should you.”

Robertson often shares encouraging messages of faith with his social media followers.

“When we start following Jesus, everything changes,” he said in a recent Instagram post. “But the fruit of the Spirit won’t come overnight. Don’t get discouraged. Don’t believe the evil one’s lies. It takes time, and it’s not something you can earn.”

He continued, “Keep getting to know the Lord, and the Spirit will bring forth that fruit. And always remember that ‘where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.’ (2 Corinthians 3:17)”

Robertson detailed his faith journey in THE BLIND, a movie about his life and struggles with substance abuse.

“We went to the premiere of our movie, THE BLIND, and I heard from people who want to turn their lives around. Just like all of us, they want forgiveness and redemption,” he wrote. “When I hear that people are finding hope in Jesus after seeing this movie in theaters, I know it was worth the embarrassment. I’m grateful the Lord can use my story to show them that no one is ever too far gone to turn it around.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Robertson and THE BLIND:

As THE BLIND begins its streaming debut, Phil Robertson reminded fans that they can turn to God no matter what they may have done in the past.

“If you’ve seen my story in THE BLIND, you know what I did to my family all those years ago,” he said. “I rebelled against God every way I could. Commode-hugging drunkenness, lust, greed, anger – I knew them all to well. I let the enemy of my soul tempt me to become my own god, and for a long time, I didn’t know how to find my way back.”

“If not for Miss Kay and Jan refusing to give up on me, I don’t know where I’d be,” Robertson continued. “The Lord won’t give up on you either, no matter what your past looks like. It’s amazing that we miss that.”

“I obeyed the Gospel at 28. I repented and asked for the Lord’s forgiveness and mercy, and you know what He did? He gave it to me – along with eternity,” he continued. “50 years later, I said ‘yes’ to telling my story in THE BLIND movie, and now thousands are finding that same hope in Christ…know that the Lord can forgive your sins and set you free too.”
