Why This Actor Believes America is Ripe for Spiritual Revival

Actor Kirk Cameron explained why he has hope for America’s future despite the spiritual bankruptcy that plagues the country and why he believes the U.S. is set up for a Christian revival.
“Everywhere I go, I find that people within the family of faith are feeling more and more discouraged, inching themselves toward the cliff of despair and hopelessness,” Cameron said. “Some even believe that it is written in heaven that things will only get inevitably worse, and they’ll point to the book of Revelation or Daniel and say that there’s absolutely nothing we can do or even should do.”
“In their minds, things are not falling apart because of apathy or complacency or sin. They’re falling into place,” he continued. “I think that’s completely backwards, and I think the hopelessness is totally misplaced.”
“I think that when all authority, both in heaven and on earth, was given to our Savior, that means there’s zero authority left the forces of evil and darkness. They can try, but it’s a losing battle, and we’re on the winning team,” he added. “All of the chaos and all of the corruption that feels to you and me like the perfect storm that’s coming upon our children and our grandchildren is really just a white cap on the top edge of a tsunami wave of the goodness and faithfulness of God that is sweeping across the face of the Earth and has been on the move for the last 2,000 years, ever since Jesus passed from death to life, rose from the grave and sent the Holy Spirit of God into your heart and into mine.”
Rather than become discouraged by the state of our country, Cameron views the spiritual state of our country as an opportunity for the Lord to move. While the actor finds this hope in God’s power revealed through the Bible, there are also happenings in recent years that support his claim.
Last year alone saw multiple spiritual movements through things like the Asbury Revival and the incredible public reception to faith-based content such as JESUS REVOLUTION and SOUND OF FREEDOM.
Furthermore, the younger generation, though they have been shepherded away from faith, are seeking God more than ever as many look to fill the void in their heart that they are finding the things of this world cannot fill. This has helped Gen Z return to faith. Last year’s State of the Bible report found that 56% of Americans aged 18-21 are curious about Jesus/the Bible. This year’s report found that 54% of Gen Zers confess that the Bible has transformed their life.
“What if the current cultural setback is really a divine setup for a spiritual comeback led by the family of faith?” Cameron said.
“I want to show you how we can get there in the middle of the chaos that we’re in right now. I want to show you why it’s wrong for us to think that our opponents are too big for us, that they cannot be overcome,” he added. “Culture is not inherently bad. It is simply the dominant worldview and ideas and beliefs externalizing themselves into the world and that culture was actually given to the family of faith to shape. It’s ours to mold and to create.”
Cameron shared this message as he announced that he is bringing back his American Campfire Revival series to help people find hope leading into this year’s election.
