Teddy Bear Award® winner Candace Cameron Bure recently opened up about how her husband, Valeri Bure, inspires her with his perseverance.
“My husband…I mean, if I’m going to put a picture of a person that is disciplined, and I’m not…just talking about the physical, but I think consistency is the word that I associate with discipline,” Bure said in a recent podcast episode, “my husband is the most disciplined person I know in the best of ways.”
“My husband…was a pro athlete for his career and an Olympian. And there’s something about any Olympian that you talk to. There’s just a whole other level of discipline that you do the things you need to do with consistency regardless of how you feel, what else is going on around you. And for those reasons, in a positive way, it is inspiring to me.”
Candace and Valeri celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary in June.
“31 years ago we went on our first official date at his practice rink in Fredericton, New Brunswick,” Candace wrote on Instagram June 22. “@dcoulier introduced us at a charity hockey game in Los Angeles 4 months earlier. 30 years ago on June 20th, we got engaged in Paris.”

Bure shared photos of the pair throughout their relationship, from dating to empty nesters.
“29 years ago today, June 22nd, we got married,” she continued. “We grew a beautiful family ❤️❤️❤️. Happy anniversary to my love and best friend forever ♥️ 🥂.
She recently shared that their 25-year-old son, Lev, helped her and her husband overcome a hard spot in their marriage when Lev was young.
At the time, they weren’t sure how they were “gonna make it through.”
“At one point, Lev preached, like, a 45-minute sermon on marriage to us,” she shared. “Just had his Bible open on the couch and just talked about it.”
“And I’ll never forget, ’cause he said, ‘You know, I know I haven’t been married and I’m just a young kid, and so it’s probably hard to take marriage advice from someone this young [who] never experienced it before, but I don’t need to be married to know what the word of God says,'” she continued.
She believed that his young voice held a lot of wisdom. She and Valeri walked away thinking, “we raised some pretty good kids.”
A strong believer in Christ, Candace is looking forward to going on a tour this November with Kira Stokes to talk about health, joy and her faith in Hollywood. Fans can “laugh” and “play games” with her in Atlanta on Nov. 20, Knoxville on Nov. 21, Indianapolis on Nov. 22 and Grand Rapids on Nov. 23.
