Review:

A CHARLIE BROWN THANKSGIVING is a delightful PEANUTS cartoon movie made for television wherein Peppermint Patty invites herself and many others over to Charlie Brown’s house for Thanksgiving. A CHARLIE BROWN THANKSGIVING is an adorable animated movie with some great, positive messages the whole family can enjoy.
Some people may think that Charlie Brown is just a simple little show, but it is so much more. Time after time Charlie Brown delivers a message that is much deeper than expected. Charlie Brown Thanksgiving starts out with Patty inviting herself over to Charlie Brown’s for Thanksgiving. Charlie doesn’t know what to say, but Patty does all the speaking. Patty calls back to say many more want to come. Overwhelmed by Patty’s pushy plans, Charlie tells his friend, Linus that the only things he can make are cold cereal and, maybe, toast. Linus tells him not to worry, that his friends will help Charlie with the Thanksgiving feast.
Meanwhile, Snoopy decides to get a start on the cooking. When everyone arrives, Snoopy gives them something very different than the traditional Thanksgiving meal. Eventually, Linus has to remind everyone how Thanksgiving started and what the holiday really means.
Even though this is just a cute little show, A CHARLIE BROWN THANKSGIVING teaches children the history behind Thanksgiving. Even better, it also teaches that we should be thankful to God for what we have. The voice work by the child actors in A CHARLIE BROWN THANKSGIVING is winsome and charming, as is the animation. Written by Charles Schultz and based on his beloved PEANUTS comic strip, A CHARLIE BROWN THANKSGIVING is a great movie to watch with the whole family during Thanksgiving.
A CHARLIE BROWN THANKSGIVING originally aired on CBS in 1973. It will air again this year on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 on ABC. Check your local listings.

Content:

(CCC, BBB, PPP, V) Very strong Christian, moral, Pro-American, and patriotic worldview, with prayer said and giving thanks to God is extolled, as is the Thanksgiving holiday (a thoroughly Amnerican tradition), helping others and gratitude; no foul language; no real violence except for the annual slapstick football prank Lucy plays on Charlie Brown; no sexual content; no nudity; no alcohol use; no smoking; and, nothing else objectionable.

In Brief:

You may think that the short Charlie Brown TV programs that show up every holiday season are just simple little movies, but they are so much more. Time after time, Charlie Brown delivers a message that’s much deeper than expected. A CHARLIE BROWN THANKSGIVING starts out with Peppermint Patty inviting herself over to Charlie Brown’s for Thanksgiving. Charlie doesn’t know what to say, but Patty does all the speaking. Later, she telephones him, saying many more people want to come, including Patty’s friends Marcie and Franklin. All this overwhelms Charlie Brown, but he gets help from his friends.
Even though it’s a cute little entertainment, A CHARLIE BROWN THANKSGIVING also gives children a profound lesson about the history behind Thanksgiving. Even better, it teaches us all that we should be thankful to God for what we have. The program’s voice work and animation are just as wonderful and winsome as the positive messages. A CHARLIE BROWN THANKSGIVING is a great movie to watch with the whole family during Thanksgiving. It airs again on ABC on November 26, 2014. Check your local listings.
