GRANDMA

"Vile Feminist/Lesbian Grandmother"

What You Need To Know:

GRANDMA is vile, foul-mouthed, pro-abortion, radical feminist propaganda. The plot is simple. Lili Tomlin stars as a nasty small-town lesbian grandma who finds her granddaughter, Sage, has gotten pregnant and wants an abortion but has no money to pay for it. Over the course of a day, Elle takes Sage on a string of ugly visits to friends and family, including ex lovers, in search of raising the $600 needed for the abortion. Eventually, they settle on Sage’s mother, and Sage dances gaily in the street after she gets her abortion.

GRANDMA’s evil pro-abortion, feminist, homosexual worldview is utterly offensive and unconvincing. Also, the characters are shrill, profane, unlikeable loudmouths, with no one winning over any sane viewer’s heart. Writer-Director Paul Weitz co-directed the morally abominable AMERICAN PIE. He sinks to even lower depths here, which is sad because he’s proven capable of making at least one heartfelt movie, ABOUT A BOY. Utterly lacking in redeeming values, the politically correct, leftist GRANDMA is unpleasant to sit through, from start to finish. It has abundant crude language, which is typical of the Left.

Content:

(PaPaPa, RoRoRo, FeFeFe, PCPCPC, HoHoHo, CoCo, LLL, V, SS, DD, MMM) Very strong pagan, Romantic, radical feminist, politically correct leftist worldview regarding abortion and homosexuality, plus title character praises Communist/feminist author Betty Friedan’s Neo-Marxist diatribe, THE FEMINIST MYSTIQUE; at least 90 obscenities and profanities (including 60 or more “f” words); one comically portrayed scene of violence where the grandma stuns granddaughter’s boyfriend by hitting him sharply with a hockey stick several times, including at least once in the testicles, to make him offer whatever money he has towards granddaughter’s abortion fee; lesbian grandmother discusses sex graphically with her granddaughter, promiscuity and promotion of homosexuality, transsexualism, gender confusion, and birth control; no nudity; no alcohol; no smoking but some drug use; and, very strong miscellaneous evils such as promotion of leftist, hedonistic sex education in schools, character berates people to get money for abortion, shameless hedonism and narcissism, misanthropic attitudes, and granddaughter is shown happily dancing in the street after finally attaining her abortion, thus having her “problem” solved.

More Detail:

GRANDMA is an utterly vile, foul-mouthed piece of pro-abortion propaganda about a hippie, straight-turned-lesbian grandma who spends a day driving her pregnant granddaughter around the countryside and their small town trying to collect money for the granddaughter’s abortion. GRANDMA has a very strong pagan, evil, politically correct, leftist worldview promoting radical feminism, abortion and homosexuality, plus abundant foul language.

GRANDMA’s plot is simple, as a nasty small-town grandma named Elle (Lily Tomlin) finds that her granddaughter, Sage (Julia Garner), has gotten pregnant and wants an abortion but has no money for it. Over the course of a day, the story follows Elle as she takes Sage on a string of ugly visits to friends and family in search of raising the $600 needed for the abortion.

The two confront numerous people. They include the child’s father, Sage’s worthless boyfriend (Nat Wolff); an old boyfriend of Elle’s (Sam Elliott); a transsexual hairdresser friend of Elle’s (Laverne Cox), who says Elle helped her with something in the past that’s implied to be morally illicit; Elle’s much-younger ex-girlfriend (Judy Greer); and, finally Elle’s daughter (Marcia Gay Harden), whom she convinces to pay for the remaining fee of Sage’s abortion.

Of course, this movie’s subject matter is utterly offensive. Also, the characters are shrill, profane, unlikeable loudmouths, with no one winning over any sane viewer’s heart. Writer-Director Paul Weitz co-directed the morally abominable AMERICAN PIE. He sinks to even lower depths here, which is a shame because he’s proven capable of making at least one heartfelt movie, ABOUT A BOY.

Utterly lacking in redeeming values, GRANDMA is unpleasant to sit through from start to finish. It’s too bad its funders didn’t terminate the production funding instead.
