What You Need To Know:
The characters exhibit almost no moral conscience throughout the movie. The theme, if there is one, is that sex is a commodity to trade for favors. The movie is filled with sex, depravity and characters most moviegoers will not like and will not want to know any better. There’s very little to commend and much to avoid in this abhorrent concoction.

More Detail:
GARDEN PARTY is the story of five characters each attempting to live out a dream in the seedier side of Los Angeles. Though separate at first, their stories begin to intertwine as their paths cross.
Sally is a cutthroat realtor with a secret past. She grows marijuana and gives free samples to her clients. Her 24/7 assistant is Nathan, a failed homosexual dancer who uses too much of Sally’s “samples.” Todd is a porn-addicted real estate client who helps Sally get back pornographic pictures from a depraved rival realtor in exchange for Sally acting out his sexual fantasy for an evening. April is a teenager trying to find a job and place to live that’s not with her perverted step father and not with her lesbian cousin. Sammy is just off the bus in hopes of being a rock star. Add in a pornography photographer, and everyone’s stories begin to intertwine.
In the end, Nathan discovers he may like girls more than guys, Sammy gets a record contract as well as a girlfriend, April ends up living with Todd, while Sally continues to close real estate deals. The characters exhibit nearly no moral conscience throughout the movie. The theme, if there is one, is that sex is a commodity to trade. April trades sex to get a false I.D. To earn money, she poses for pornographic pictures. Nathan gives Sammy a place to live. When Sammy leaves, Nathan asks for and receives oral sex as payment. Todd beats up a man and retrieves older porn pictures for Sally in exchange for sex with her. There is no character with any good, let alone noble, intentions.
The movie moves along quickly and the actors do as much as they can with such cardboard characters. However, the movie is filled with sex, depravity and characters that the vast majority of moviegoers will not like and won’t want to get to know any better. There’s very little to commend and much to avoid in this abhorrent concoction.
