More Detail:
DAHMER is a confused look into the evil mind of the gruesome cannibal and serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, who was killed in 1994 while serving a life sentence in prison. Jeremy Renner stars as the killer. The movie travels back and forth in time showing Dahmer’s obsession with homosexual pornography and alcohol. Dahmer has confrontations with his father, who tries to help him with his drinking but gets angry about his son’s secretive need for privacy. The movie also shows Dahmer trying to seduce young men, eventually drugging his victims so that he can rape them or murder them.
DAHMER never really explains the famous serial killer’s behavior. At some points, however, the movie suggests that Dahmer became violent because he repressed his homosexual desires instead of expressing them openly. This is ultimately an abhorrent, politically correct worldview. DAHMER avoids most of the graphic details of Dahmer’s violent life, but it does depict him raping some male victims, angrily choking a couple of them and mutilating two of his murder victims. The movie also contains some strong foul language and marijuana use. Also, a couple scenes featuring policemen are not flattering to their intelligence.
