What You Need To Know:

In SAW II, the notorious killer Jigsaw is still on the loose. An older man dying of cancer, Jigsaw thinks people have grown soft and don't appreciate life, so he kidnaps them and places them in deadly situations in abandoned warehouses and homes, where they must use their brains to escape gruesome death. Jigsaw kidnaps the estranged son of his nemesis, a police detective, and gives the son and several other people two hours to get the antidote to a deadly nerve agent he has given them. The detective easily captures Jigsaw and tries to humor him to save his son. Jigsaw has a few tricks up his sleeve, however.

Like its predecessor, SAW II is a perverse torture chamber of horrors. The villain achieves his secret goal in the end, and the apparent hero, the detective, is morally humiliated in the process. Unlike SAW II, the best horror movies give viewers some semblance of moral and/or spiritual victory. In no way does SAW II do this. In fact, most of the victims in it are boring and obnoxious. Furthermore, the story becomes tedious long before it reveals the surprise twist at the end.

More Detail:

In SAW II, the notorious killer Jigsaw is still on the loose. An older man dying of cancer, Jigsaw thinks people have grown soft and don’t appreciate life, so he kidnaps them and places them in deadly situations and torture devices in abandoned warehouses and homes, where they must use their brains to escape gruesome death. Jigsaw kidnaps the estranged son of his nemesis, a police detective, and then gives the son and several other people two hours to get the antidote to a deadly nerve agent he has given them.

Even Hitchcock’s PSYCHO, the ancestor of today’s mad slasher pictures, has the hero saving the heroine and unmasking and stopping the real killer. And, even the original HALLOWEEN has the heroine fighting off her attacker and the hero putting a round of bullets in the killer’s body. In no way does SAW II match the thrills of those acclaimed classics. In fact, most of the victims in it are boring and obnoxious. Furthermore, the story becomes tedious long before it reveals the surprise twist is revealed at the end.
