THE TRUE CHRISTIAN HISTORY OF AMERICA is a documentary that explains the Christian, biblical origins behind the founding of the United States of America and its history. THE TRUE CHRISTIAN HISTORY OF AMERICA is beautifully produced, highly educational and loaded with valuable information, with a strong Christian, biblical worldview, but it’s a bit long and contains references to violent history.

Viewers go back in time as experts from around the world discuss topics including Wycliffe and the Bible, the Magna Carta, the formation of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, Protestant Reformer Martin Luther, the right to bear arms, and so much more!

The commentators discuss how the principles of liberty can be traced back to England and the Reformation and what exactly that means. Interviews with the featured speakers prove that the founding fathers of America (and others) who pursued the cause of liberty were men who lived by the Bible, and how their biblically based Christian beliefs were incorporated into important documents such as the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The documentary discusses how the Protestant Reformers influenced the concept of God-given rights, freedom of religion, free speech, and freedom of the press. It also shows how early American leaders declared that Christianity is the only true religion and never intended it should be counted equal with Islam or paganism.

This is a highly educational movie. It’s loaded with valuable information and could fit in a classroom setting and be broken up into parts, due to its length and wide variety of topics. The movie itself is broken up into around a dozen parts, discussing how American Christianity was birthed from ideas during the Medieval age such as the Magna Carta, up until the Revolutionary War and beyond. The movie notes that America’s first President, George Washington’s, biography and the country’s future are both intertwined with Christianity. The movie goes into professional detail explaining how this came to be.

THE TRUE CHRISTIAN HISTORY OF AMERICA is beautifully produced. For an educational documentary, it has a perfect mixture of action, commentary from experts and history being explained. The scenery is gorgeous, and the filming is well done. At nearly three hours, however, the movie is a bit long and could lose viewer interest before the end if people are not into history.

As expected, considering its title, THE TRUE CHRISTIAN HISTORY OF AMERICA has a very strong Christian worldview. History is explained in terms of its Bible-based origins, God and Scriptures are referenced all throughout the film, and Christian historical figures are mentioned. THE TRUE CHRISTIAN HISTORY OF AMERICA contains a decent amount of violence depicting multiple wars and battles in America’s history, fighting with guns and swords. For this reason, MOVIEGUIDE® advises light caution for younger children.
