CAGED NO MORE

"Rescuing Helpless Victims"

Watch:

What You Need To Know:

CAGED NO MORE is a faith-based movie starring Kevin Sorbo along the lines of NOT TODAY, or the Hollywood blockbuster thriller TAKEN, about sex trafficking. In it, a woman named Aggie tries to save her goddaughter’s daughters from the sex trade in Greece. Their evil father Jack is selling the two young girls in danger into slavery. To stop him, Aggie gets Jack’s wealthy twin brother’s son, a Special Forces soldier, to save the girls.

CAGED NO MORE is a rough movie and tackles very difficult subject matter. Any awareness of sex trafficking that’s accompanied with action to end it is welcome and needed. Excluding the exciting final 20 minutes, the majority of CAGED NO MORE is slow and uneventful. If the movie was merely a PSA to bring awareness, this wouldn’t be a big problem. The movie does have a strong Christian worldview extolling faith and prayer. Even though CAGED NO MORE is void of foul language and has no explicit sex or violence, the subject matter has plenty of implicit material that’s only for mature viewers. Caution is advised older teenagers.

Content:

(CCC, BBB, VV, S, A, M) Very strong Christian, biblical worldview with prayer, faith, fighting for helpless victims, sacrifice, and courage; no foul language; action violence with punching, beatings, shooting, and light blood, but nothing explicit; plot revolves around sex trafficking, with multiple scenes set in brothels, but nothing graphic shown, though the implications are disturbing; no nudity; light drinking; no smoking or drug use; and, kidnapping, father sells children into sex slavery and a woman lies to get into a party.

More Detail:

CAGED NO MORE is a faith-based movie starring Kevin Sorbo along the lines of NOT TODAY, or the Hollywood blockbuster thriller TAKEN, about sex trafficking. In it, Aggie Prejean finds her middle-aged goddaughter Macy overdosed in her home. Macy’s violent husband, Jack (Kevin Sorbo), left years earlier and took their two daughters Skye and Elle with him. Macy’s dying words to Aggie are for her to save her two daughters from Jack.

Aggie, distraught over Macy’s death, takes her plea to heart, and works to find out where the two young girls might be. Aggie discovers Jack has a twin brother, Richard, one of the richest men in New Orleans. So, she sneaks into one of the brother’s charity balls, only to be caught by Richards son Wil, a Special Forces soldier. When Aggie tells them what’s happened, and how she believes Skye and Elle to be in danger, Richard uses his resources to find out where Jack has taken them.

The truth, however, is almost unbearably grim. Jack already sold Skye into the sex trade and is preparing to do the same with Elle.

Wil brings Aggie and some special forces recruit friends to Greece to rescue Elle before she’s sold. Meanwhile, the community back home prays for the safe return of the girls.

However, it’s a movie, a thriller to be more specific, and, thus, the effectiveness of the message is reliant on the quality and entertainment value of the story. The plot is convoluted and messy and includes too many characters who offer little or no dramatic purpose. Additionally, the multiple spokespersons for sex-trafficking awareness, including cameos by Bobby Jindal, Natalie Grant and Kathie Lee Gifford, jolt viewers out of the story.

CAGED NO MORE has some slick visuals at times, and the Greek actors ground the movie more than anyone else. It’s a shame CAGED NO MORE wasn’t better, because the message is so important. Still, the movie has a strong Christian worldview extolling faith and prayer. Even though CAGED NO MORE is void of foul language and has no explicit sex or violence, the subject matter has plenty of implicit material that is only for mature audiences. Caution is advised older teenagers.
