Justin Bieber on Sex: I Wish I Had Saved Myself for Marriage

By Tess Farrand, Associate Content Editor

Justin Bieber said that he wished he would’ve saved himself for marriage.

“If I could go back and not have to face some of the bad hurt that I went through… yeah, I probably would’ve saved myself for marriage,” said Bieber on Facebook live.

“I don’t think it’s too much information, I think it’s helpful,” Bieber added.

Bieber made similar comments to VOUS Church Pastor Rich Wilkerson Jr., “I think when I got really serious about [my wife] Hailey is when I stopped having sex.”

Bieber said to Wilkerson Jr., “[Getting physical] can cloud your judgment and cloud your decision making and cloud whether you know that person is right for you or not.”

He also gave similar information in another rent interview.

“In my previous relationship, I went off and just went crazy and went wild, just was being reckless,” Bieber said on an interview for Apple Music. “[With Hailey], I took the time to really build myself and focus on me and try to make the right decisions and all that sort of stuff. And yeah, I got better.”

Bieber legally wed Hailey Baldwin in September 2018 and had a formal ceremony in September 2019. The two are very vocal about their Christian faith.

Hailey said in her ELLE cover story, “Being able to share that with each other—to have that bond of faith and spirituality—is so [critical] for us. It’s the most important part of our relationship, following Jesus together, being a part of the church community together. It’s everything.”

Bieber’s faith relies heavily on him practicing the fruit of the Spirit.

Justin highlighted the need for good fruit in one’s life on Instagram recently.

He said on Instagram, “Trees need to be rooted to blossom. What are you rooted to? Is your life producing good fruit? Where is your power source? Like a tree we are connected to a source that gives us life. It’s up to us weather we acknowledge that or not. Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. Hebrews 11:1”

Thanks for your openness Justin!
