How Actress Emily Blunt’s Children Bring Her Joy During the Pandemic

Emily Blunt credited her children as her “Saving grace” during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I’m so thankful I’ve been able to have the time together with my family,” Blunt told PEOPLE. “Because I think I will probably look back on it and realize how precious it’s really been.”

The London-born actress, 37, has two daughters, Hazel, 6, and Violet, 4, with her husband, John Krasinski.

“Being around little ones during the pandemic was such a saving grace because they would just be bouncing around the house, and your job is to protect them from what is happening and make sure their life remains joyful,” Blunt said.

“That was a pretty great lifeline for John and me during the pandemic, for sure.”

During the pandemic, her husband also launched SOME GOOD NEWS. The program, available to stream on social media, featured Krasinski as a news anchor sharing the good news happening in communities around the country.

Meanwhile, Blunt said this time at home allowed the family to really blossom.

“It’s wonderful when you see them become their own little people,” Blunt said. “I think they come out the way [they’re meant to].”

Blunt has appeared in a handful of Movieguide® Award-winning pictures, including MARY POPPINS RETURNS.

“Even though my children still cry out for the Julie Andrews version in our house,” Blunt laughed. “I didn’t win my own children over.”

Blunt was nominated for the Christie Peters Grace Award® for Most Inspiring Performance in Movies for her performance in the 2018 thriller A QUIET PLACE.
