Dean Cain Filming New Movie to Raise Awareness for Human Trafficking

By Movieguide® Staff

Dean Cain’s latest project about human trafficking started filming just outside Orlando.

The actor, best known for his role as Superman in LOIS & CLARK: THE NEW ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN, announced the project earlier this year.

Movieguide® previously reported:

Dean Cain announced that The Lifeboat Project and JCFilms would partner on an upcoming series of movies addressing human trafficking.

The project reportedly includes three movies under the series title NOT FOR SALE: AMERICA. The upcoming movie is called NOT FOR SALE: FLORIDA.

“The mission of The Lifeboat Project is to raise awareness of the issue of human trafficking and to empower the lives of survivors through long-term aftercare, residential programs, trauma counseling, housing, personal development, and educational resources,” The Lifeboat’s mission statement reads.

The 55-year-old actor said that the project seeks to spread awareness about the dangers and prevalence of trafficking, especially in America.

“I’m here to raise awareness about trafficking,” Cain told the Apopka Police Department. “It’s human trafficking whether it’s sexual or labor. Here in Central Florida, it’s a big deal, and people don’t realize that. So, anything I can do to draw attention to it, I’m honored to be here.”

The Apopka Chief reported:

Based on a report from the National Human Trafficking Hotline, the Orlando area had the third most calls per capita to the trafficking hotline from 2007 to 2016 with 285 calls per 100,000 people. Miami was fourth with 271 calls per 100,000 people. Tampa was 12th in the nation with 155 calls per 100,000.

Movieguide® previously reported on JCFilms:

There is a new faith-based movie studio in town. JC Films is a family-friendly and faith-based studio located in Tempe, Arizona, to shoot 12 movies next year.

“Our goal is to do between 6 to 12 films here next year in Phoenix,” Jason Campbell, president of JC Films, said. “We just want to be a hub … for people of faith to get together and make family-friendly content.”

First on Campbell’s docket is FORGIVEN, which stars actor Dean Cain and has already begun shooting.

“Telling a lot of personal stories, and no story is too small,” Cain said.

Campbell hopes that his studio will provide faith content to a large market of believers in the U.S. and act as a potential kickstart for more movies based in Arizona.
