Nick Carter on Fatherhood: ‘All My Children Are a Blessing to Me’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Backstreet Boy Nick Carter is sharing his thoughts on what it’s like to be a father of three young children in an appearance on podcast We Are Family.

“You’re learning on the job, you’re figuring it all out. I love the challenge. I think it’s great,” Carter shared. “It’s a challenge and by the end of the day, I’m exhausted and I’m going to sleep and waking up early. I absolutely love it.”

He said that taking care of son Odin, 5, and daughters Saoirse, 2, and Pearl, 10 months, is all about “the delegation of time.”

“You have three different personalities, three different needs, three different … just human beings that want affection and attention,” he explained. “At one hand, you got a 10-month-old over there crying, then you have your daughter on the other hand wanting your attention, then your son, happening all at the same time.”

Even though three kids can be a handful, Carter is grateful he has his wife, Lauren, to lean on.

“Thankfully I have my wife who’s able to help right now,” the singer laughed. “Odin. He’s 5 years old and he’s all about Mommy right now. Everything is Mommy, Mommy, Mommy. I’m like that’s good. You go to your mommy. So I’ll take care of the two girls.”

Movieguide® previously reported on the birth of the couple’s youngest daughter, Pearl:

Backstreet Boy Nick Carter credits his faith for the miraculous birth and survival of his daughter, Pearl.

“All my children are a blessing to me and I’m a very strong believer in God. I’m very happy that she’s here in our lives and we will do everything that we can to make sure that all of our kids are protected and loved,” Carter said of Pearl’s birth.

Carter and his wife, Lauren, were shocked to discover she was expecting a third child after they struggled to conceive their first two children. Carter called Pearl’s birth a “miracle” because the couple already selected a girl’s name.

After an uneventful pregnancy, Lauren experienced minor complications during the birth, and Pearl landed in the NICU.

“To see your child being born and then having to be put in the NICU … it’s the scariest thing. But I think that’s what makes it a blessing,” Carter said.
