Chris Tomlin to Host Massive Good Friday Concert ‘To Remember the Hope We Have in Jesus’

Christian music artist Chris Tomlin announced the return of the annual Good Friday Nashville concert after the event was canceled the last two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Grammy award-winning artist started the event in 2017 and quickly became one of the most attended Christian concerts, selling out each year.

Good Friday Nashville is set to take place at Bridgestone Arena on April 15, 2022.

“After two years of having to worship together virtually due to COVID, I am so excited to be coming back to Bridgestone Arena, live and in person, for Good Friday Nashville,” Tomlin said on his website. “What an incredible opportunity to gather again as a church and as a local community to remember the hope we have in Jesus because of His sacrifice on the cross.”

The money raised by the concert goes directly to Tomlin’s non-profit organization ‘For Others,’ which seeks to provide aid for children in the foster system.

“Good Friday Nashville is one of the most rewarding things I have ever been a part of. When this event began 5 years ago, I had a dream it might become an annual thing… a tradition for family and friends to come together, to celebrate, to remember,” Tomlin said. “As we got closer to that first Good Friday, I felt a need to make this night more than just a concert. My wife, Lauren, and I had felt a calling to shed light on the foster care and adoption crisis in our nation. It was through that and our first Good Friday that our non-profit, For Others, came to be. And so, each year Good Friday Nashville benefits helping children find forever homes across our state. So, when you join us for this powerful night of worship… know that you are a part of making a difference in so many lives.”

Aside from the concert proceeds, For Others also planned an inaugural “private vision gathering” on April 14 with leaders passionate about the foster care and adoption crisis.

According to Tomlin’s website, the event features Marcus Allen, Mike Fisher, Eddie George, Kirk Herbstreit, Tyler Hubbard (Florida Georgia Line), Charles Kelley (Lady A), Shay Mooney (Dan & Shay), Willie Robertson, Ben Roethlisberger, Chris Tomlin, Daryll Strawberry, TobyMac, Brett Young, and Ben Zobrist.

Movieguide® previously reported on last year’s virtual event:

Pastor and author Max Lucado and Christian singer Chris Tomlin announced a worship service, “Good Friday Worldwide,” that seeks to encourage audiences to reflect on the hope of salvation through Christ’s death on the cross.

According to a press release, the “Good Friday Worldwide” event features a sermon from Lucado and music from Tomlin, Pat Barrett, and We The Kingdom. The press release also claims that a surprise, award-winning musical guest will make an appearance.

“We deeply need the message of Good Friday this year,” Lucado told The Christian Post. “The last months have taken their toll on our emotional strength, relationships, and stability. The Good Friday message is much needed and welcomed this year. I’m honored to partner with Chris Tomlin in an effort to bring hope to the viewers of Good Friday Worldwide.”

The program will also air on TBN’s radio partners K-LOVE and Air1 and 30 additional radio stations to reach 32 countries with the Gospel.

“This Good Friday, believers across the Earth will take time out of their day to reflect on the meaning of Christ’s suffering and death,” TBN Chairman Matt Crouch said. “Here at TBN, we’re blessed to welcome Chris Tomlin and Pastor Max Lucado and some talented worship artists as we invite viewers to join us in thanking Jesus for His incomparable gift of salvation.”
