Vince Gill, Daughter Corinna Perform ‘When My Amy Prays’ to Honor Amy Grant

By Movieguide® Contributor

Vince Gill and daughter Corinna recently took the stage to perform a sweet tribute for Amy Grant as she continues to recover from a bike accident.

Gill, who is currently doing a four-night residency at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, told the crowd that he wanted to sing “When My Amy Prays,” a song he wrote for his wife, “because of her accident and everything she’s been going through we’ve been thinking a lot about her.”

He continued, “I thought how sweet it would be for her youngest to sing this song I wrote for her.”

Daughter Corinna came out to sing the song, changing the lyrics to “when my mama prays.”

This sweet father-daughter duet comes just over a week after Grant was admitted to the hospital for cuts and abrasions after falling while biking.

Movieguide® previously reported on Grant’s accident:

Christian singer Amy Grant will take a break from her August concert schedule to recover from a bike accident last Wednesday.

“Amy Grant was in an accident after hitting a pothole while riding her bicycle with a friend (note: she was wearing a helmet). Following a brief hospitalization where she was treated for her injuries, doctors have ordered additional recovery time at home for Amy, where she is now resting comfortably,” her team posted on the singer’s Instagram page.

This comes two years after the singer underwent open heart surgery for PAPVR, a rare condition Grant was born with but only discovered later in life, as Movieguide® previously reported.

While Grant is stable, she has rescheduled her August concerts in Knoxville, Chattanooga, Johnson City, and Wilmington to April and June 2023 due to “doctor’s orders.”

“All tickets will be honored at the new performance dates. There are no other changes to her touring schedule at this time,” the Instagram post added.

PEOPLE reports that Grant was taken to Vanderbilt Hospital, where she was treated for cuts and abrasions. She stayed at the hospital for a few days after the accident for observation and treatment and has since returned home.

The accident comes only a few days after Grant was named one of five recipients of this year’s Kennedy Center Honors.

She will join singer Gladys Knight, actor George Clooney, Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Tania León, and the rock band U2 at the Kennedy Center’s Opera House on December 4 for the event.

“Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine ever receiving this prestigious Kennedy Center Honors,” the singer said. “Through the years, I’ve watched so many of my heroes serenaded by colleagues and fellow artists, always moved by the ability of music and film to bring us together and to see the best in each other.”
