Kathie Lee Gifford: ‘It’s Just Beautiful’ Being a Grandmother

Kathie Lee Gifford is loving life as grandma to her newborn grandson, Frank Michael.
The former TODAY show host previously announced the exciting news that her son, Cody, and his wife, Erika Brown, had a baby boy in May.
“It’s just beautiful,” Gifford told PEOPLE. “Everybody says it is. I FaceTime with him every day and he’s just a wonderment.
“He’s extraordinary,” she added. “And everybody thinks their own grandchild is the best in the world, so I won’t say anything other than they’re right, their grandchild is.”
Gifford said that she also worked with Erika to make a special nursery for her grandson at her home.
“I helped Erika set up the nursery in our house,” she said. “My mom’s room became the new baby room and everybody rejoiced over that, and I’m sure my mother in heaven was rejoicing all the more.”
Gifford also announced her new book, called “The God of the Way,” which she co-wrote alongside Rabbie Jason Sobel. The book is a part of another project, a Fathom Event called THE WAY, which features Gifford as the narrater as “moving stories from the Bible [are[ brought to life.
“It’s a beautiful season of new beginnings for me,” she said. “I wish more people as they age felt that way about the process — that God is not finished with them. As long as we have a pulse, we have purpose.”

Kathie Lee Gifford recently celebrated the birth of her first grandchild, along with new parents Cody Gifford and Erika Brown.
“My heart is bursting,” Gifford captioned a photo of the new parents at the hospital. “Frank Michael Gifford is here, confirming that our God is good and merciful and faithful. And he loves us!”
In another post, Gifford wrote: “What greater miracle is there than the miracle of life? I cannot contain my joy. Thank you God for the gift of little Frank Michael Gifford. 8 lbs. 8 oz. of sheer beauty.”
The newborn is named after Cody’s late father, Frank Gifford, but his middle name has a special family connection for Brown.
“Frank’ Frankie’ after C’s pops & Michael after my uncle who passed away last year at 61 whose name also means ‘gift of God’ / Two strong men — gone but never forgotten,” she captioned her own Instagram post.
“Thank you so much to all of you for your prayers and sweet messages,” she continued. “He’s so SO cute and we can’t get enough of all of the snuggles from this lil’ guy. We are sincerely obsessed.”
