THE CHOSEN Season 4 to Premiere in Theaters

THE CHOSEN Season 4 to Premiere in Theaters

By Movieguide® Contributor

THE CHOSEN director, producer and creator Dallas Jenkins shared a few insights into what Season 4 holds during a Facebook live stream this past Sunday.

“Season 4 is actually coming in theaters,” Jenkins said, adding that the goal for THE CHOSEN is to debut all upcoming seasons in theaters as well.

Jenkins also confirmed that editing has wrapped on the first three episodes of season 4.

Movieguide® previously reported that THE CHOSEN received a waiver to continue filming despite the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strikes:

THE CHOSEN shared on their Twitter, “Update: Great news! We just received word from SAG that we have been approved for a waiver. We’ll continue shooting on Monday.”

The waiver allowed “the cast to complete the final two weeks of filming in Goshen, Utah,” Hanna Searic reported with MSN.

During the live stream, Jonathan Roumie, who portrays Jesus in the series, joined Jenkins to answer some questions.

The duo was first asked how they felt now that filming has wrapped.

“I’m ready to be on a break,” Roumie said. “It’s been quite a ride this season.”

When asked how filming season 3 compared to season 4, “Jenkins said filming Season 3 was more difficult because they had to film in the fields for a long period of time,” MSN reported.

“Filming Season 4 was more intense and he predicted it would be the most impactful season spiritually and emotionally that THE CHOSEN has done so far,” he added.

Jenkins was then asked what he plans to do after THE CHOSEN.

“There are other Bible stories to tell, too,” Jenkins hinted on the live stream.

He previously shared, “Hopefully, after I take a nap for about a year when THE CHOSEN is done, we’ve got other Bible stories to tell, because the demand seems to be so strong,” Christian Headlines reported.

THE CHOSEN season 4 is expected to release in early January or February 2024.

The series is “available for streaming on The Chosen app, Angel Studios, Peacock, Apple TV, fubo TV, Google Play, Netflix and Amazon Prime. It’s also available on BYU TV and the CW network (it airs every Sunday night on CW at 8 p.m. EDT/6 p.m. MDT),” MSN added.

Movieguide® recently reported on THE CHOSEN and the recent partnership with Lionsgate:

Dallas Jenkins, the series writer, producer, and director told CBN’s Faithwire, “Lionsgate is perfect for us,”

He added, “They’re strong and experienced in the areas we’re not, but they also understand what’s unique about us and will protect that. We’ll continue to do what we do best unabated, and they’ll expand our efforts with their tremendous distribution team.”

President of worldwide television distribution for Lionsgate, Jim Packer stated, “no surprise that an artfully crafted story about such an important historical figure, unlike anything done before, would be in great demand.”

Packer added, “The multi-season approach has allowed ‘The Chosen’ to consistently build its audience and generate a unique level of engagement. We’re excited by the opportunity to elevate this incredible property to the next level of worldwide recognition and popularity.”
