Tim Tebow Encourages Those Fighting Anxiety: ‘Run to God’

Former NFL star and Heisman trophy winner Tim Tebow has used his platform to encourage others and spread the Gospel.
Through his foundation, the Tim Tebow Foundation, the football star gave a few pieces of encouragement to those struggling with anxiety.
“Are you feeling anxious today? First and foremost, remember this: God’s love for you is unwavering,” the Instagram post began. “He sees every tear, feels every heartache, and understands every fear. Just as Jesus recognized Nathanael under the fig tree even before they met, He sees you in your moments of solitude and struggle.”
Then the post quoted John 1:47-50, which says:
“When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said to him, ‘Here truly is an Israelite in whom there is no deceit.’ ‘How do you know me?’ Nathanael asked. Jesus answered, ‘I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you.’ Nathanael declared, ‘Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the king of Israel.’ Jesus said, ‘You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that.’”
“This passage is a testament to the fact that Jesus knows us intimately,” it continued. “He understands the battles we face, the adversities we encounter, and the anxieties that weigh us down. But He doesn’t want us to carry these burdens alone. He invites us to come to Him, to find solace in His presence, and to be rejuvenated by His Spirit.”
“In moments of anxiety, let’s remember to run to God,” the post finished. “He offers peace that surpasses all understanding, comfort in times of distress, and the assurance that every battle we face has already been won.”
It concluded with Philippians 4:6-7, which reads:
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Tebow expanded on how God’s love conquers anxiety in a blog post.
“The Bible says, ‘Perfect love casts out all fear…’ So, the more we understand His love for us and that we have eternity with Him, the more confidence we can express in our lives,” he wrote. “That trust, love and confidence in God can help overcome the fear, uncertainty and anxiety of these difficult times.”
“To overcome your fear, it’s not this crazy, drastic plan that you have to do. I would encourage you [to] get connected to the source and that’s Jesus,” Tebow shared on Facebook.

“Even though worry is natural, try to release it. Find peace that His Knowledge is greater than ours. God has all the details figured out!” Tebow posted on his Instagram.
The former football player expanded on the statement, stating we can trust our plans to God.
“[W]e try to plan our way, but it’s the Lord who establishes our steps! I know it can be easy to let our minds wander as we think about the next thing we have to do this week, or what happened yesterday, or the worries on our heart,” Tebow wrote. “But … cast your worries on the Lord and stay present for those around you!”
