Nick Vujicic Explains How God Answered His Dream for a Family

By Movieguide® Contributor

Evangelist Nick Vujicic explained how his dream of having a family could only be achieved once he found his purpose in God and understood why he had been created.

“I have a wife and four children. Kanae and I, we’re in love, and we love our family,” Vujicic said. “We are doing life together, but before I met my wife – and it was love at first sight, by the way, I couldn’t feel my legs when I looked at her and she looked at me. And that was one of my biggest dreams, to be married.”

“But being married as a big dream of mine wasn’t the entirety of my purpose that I was made for,” he continued. “I, as a teenager, had to first find out why I was born this way and knowing that God is in control.”

Vujicic was born without arms or legs. Despite this disability, he has become an outspoken advocate for Christ, sharing the Gospel with millions of people through his speaking tours.

During his childhood, Vujicic struggled with his differences from those around him. However, in high school, he came to realize that he was gifted in communication. This gave him hope, and he began to understand that his disability could aid him in spreading the Gospel in a way that would catch other’s attention.

“If God’s got a plan for a blind man, God’s got a plan for me,” Vujicic said.

“When you have found the truth of really your value and your purpose and your destiny, it’s not about finding God, it’s not just about asking God, ‘God show me your plan;’ it’s not even just about fulfilling the plan that God has for you and those around you; it’s about the world,” he told TBN.

“I don’t want arms and legs. I want purpose,” he said, per Goalcast. “I don’t want arms and legs, I want peace. And I don’t want arms and legs, I want to be a miracle for someone else.”

“When you find Jesus, all you want to do is help others to know that Jesus is the answer. And so, I talk about how you don’t need to have a title or necessarily a ministry organization to be an evangelist,” he continued. “We all have a story, and our history is His story. He’s the author, and we’re the storyteller to help others know that God loves them, too.”

In a recent I AM SECOND video, Christian and motivational speaker Nick Vujicic shared his inspirational story.

“I love my life,” he opened the video. “As you can see, I have no arms and no legs. And it’s not like one day I went to school and then kids tease me and told me that I had no arms, no legs. I knew I had no arms and legs, but I didn’t think it was such a big deal until the world told me that I was an alien, that I was ugly, that I wasn’t good enough.”

“And when the doctors saw me for the first time, they apologized to my parents that they did not pick it up in the ultrasounds and give them an option to abort me,” he explained. “They were absolutely convinced that I’d never have a quality of life.”

Vujicic described how from age 8 to 13, he experienced deep depression over his condition and even tried to end his life.
