What You Need To Know:

In HEAD ABOVE WATER, Natalie (played by Cameron Diaz) is a pill addict who faces a criminal trial for possession of illegal drugs. A much older judge, named George (played by Harvey Keitel), lets her off easy. Natalie marries George. Then, Natalie commits adultery the first chance she gets with her former boyfriend, Kent, an alcoholic who visits while the judge is on a fishing trip with Natalie’s childhood friend Lance. With a smile on his face, Kent dies of a heart attack caused by the previous evening’s romp. Natalie worries about where to hide the body. When George gets home, he discovers the body and immediately has legal concerns about liability. George quickly becomes annoyed with his young wife and then plots to kill her.

This movie has excellent photography and acting. It tries to be a tribute to Alfred Hitchcock, but Hitchcock made much better movies than this. Hitchcock made most of his films before the MPAA ratings system and thus had to creatively shoot objectionable material to tell his grisly stories. Furthermore, Hitchcock had some profound statements to make about human nature. Containing adulterous situations, drug addiction, murder, and violence, this movie will only appeal to people with the darkest senses of humor
