INSIDE OUT 2 Reaches New Heights at Global Box Office

INSIDE OUT 2 is easily one of Disney’s all-time greatest films, but how great is it according to the numbers?
Per Collider, “In its 10th weekend of release, the animated blockbuster surged past a new milestone that only nine movies were previously able to. In doing so, it retained a spot on the all-time top-10 list at the global box office, and extended its lead over the year’s second-biggest hit, DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE, on the 2024 list.”
Overall, INSIDE OUT 2 has attained $642 million in the United States, which makes it the 11th biggest film in history. The family-friendly flick sits above BARBIE ($636 million) and THE AVENGERS ($623 million). It just needs $10 million more to reach the top 10 domestic all-time box office list.
Internationally, INSIDE OUT 2 has garnered $983 million, which makes the film all the more likely to hit the $1 billion mark in overseas revenue. That puts the global revenue for the film at $1.62 billion.
After several years of lackluster box office success mainly due to pumping out agenda-driven movies, Disney and Pixar are grateful for the success INSIDE OUT 2 has found.
“INSIDE OUT 2 is a quintessentially Pixar film, and it’s been amazing to see how it has connected so deeply with people all over the world,” Alan Bergman, Co-Chairman, Disney Entertainment, said. “We knew it was really special, but no one could have predicted it would reach these record-breaking heights. We’re grateful to all the fans who have made this the biggest animated film ever.”

INSIDE OUT 2 is a sequel to the acclaimed 2015 animated comedy. Riley, the young girl of the first movie, turns 13 and starts having teenage angst. She longs to join the champion varsity girls high school hockey team. However, new, unruly teenage emotions, led by Anxiety, has taken over the Control Room in Riley’s brain. In fact, Anxiety has forcibly banished Joy and her friends from the Control Room. Can Joy and her friends find their way back and fix the damage Anxiety is inflicting on Riley?
INSIDE OUT 2 is a marvelous, family-friendly animated movie. The movie is delightful, funny, inventive, and heartwarming. It has many positive messages. For example, it promotes “the joy of the Lord is your strength” (Nehemiah 8:10c) and doing the right thing, controlling your emotions and not letting anxieties overcome your decision making. INSIDE OUT 2 also promotes kindness, friendship, repentance, and forgiveness. MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for younger children for scenes of peril and a large scary-looking but nonthreatening character. Unlike other recent animated movies, INSIDE OUT 2 doesn’t have any woke or politically correct content.
