Wife of Panthers QB Sees God at Work in Husband’s NFL Career

Carolina Panthers quarterback Andy Dalton‘s wife is celebrating how she’s seen God work in her husband’s life.

“I could not be more proud of you @andydalton14. NFL is a constant journey,” his wife, JJ, wrote on Instagram alongside a carousel of photos of Dalton. “The last 14 years have been filled with so many emotions… The ONE thing that was constant was Gods faithfulness and his goodness… and that doesn’t always mean through victory.. a lot of time it meant heart break.. it meant struggle.. it meant growth! I wouldn’t change the hard times for anything because it helped shape us.. it helped us become more dependent on God and less dependent on ourselves… it became less and less about us and more and more about Jesus and his Glory!! It became more about those the Lord put around us!!”

She emphasized how grateful she is for God’s sovereignty in their lives and how He has aligned their desires to be more like His.

“I’ve watched how the Lord has been constantly refining you, strengthening you, and preparing you,” she concluded. “I have watched as you have humbly served those around you.. I’ve watched you serve the Lord in whatever position he has placed you in… I’ve watched you serve love and lead our family through 5 moves and many transitions. You are steadfast… you are strong.. you are faithful… you are a fisher of men….. It’s not what you do on the field that makes me most proud… it’s who you are that makes me most proud!!”

JJ ended the heartfelt message with Ephesians 3:20, which says, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.”

Dalton stepped in for second-year quarterback Bryce Young and led the Panthers to their first win of the season, as Movieguide® reported:

Dalton “completed 26 of 37 passes for 319 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. His performance was the first 300-yard, three-touchdown game of the NFL season,” Sports Spectrum reported.

Getting the opportunity to start again was an answer to prayer.

“I definitely wasn’t expecting it,” he said. “But when [coach Dave Canles] told me, it’s one of those deals like, well this is one of those things I’ve been praying for, another opportunity. And I’ve got it now.”

During his post-game press conference, he reiterated one thing: how much fun he and his team had.

“I got a chance to just be me and play and to be out there how I normally am. I’m normally pretty calm; I’m normally relaxed,” he told the media. “You know, guys were having fun. I was trying to make sure the guys were having fun because you put in a ton of work for this thing, and for you to get out there, it’s like now you get time to just go and enjoy the work that you put in. And it makes it nice when the day goes like it did today.”

Newsweek reported that “Bryce Young has replaced Andy Dalton under center late in the fourth quarter of their Week 5 game” against the Chicago Bears.

However, the Panthers head coach Dave Canales emphasized that Dalton is still the team’s QB.

“No Andy is our quarterback,” he stated. “I think it is about getting back to basics. Looking at this film, attacking the areas we need to improve upon. Then going to the next game and getting that focus right back to work and  capturing a great work week.”
