NCIS: LOS ANGELES Star Joins New 9-1-1 Show
By Movieguide® Contributor
NCIS: LOS ANGELES’ Chris O’Donnell just joined 9-1-1: NASHVILLE, taking on the role of Captain Don Sharpe, a rodeo rider and fire captain in Nashville.
ABC announced O’Donnell’s new role in an Instagram post: “Chris O’Donnell will star in 9-1-1: NASHVILLE as Captain Don Sharpe. #911Nashville is coming soon to ABC.”
Fans expressed their excitement. “WE ARE SO BACKKKKKKKKKKKKKK,” one user said. Hulu’s Instagram account added, “oh we’re ready for this 👀.”
O’Donnell played Grisha “G” Callen for 14 seasons on NCIS: LOS ANGELES, so this will not be his first rodeo in a law enforcement-type of role. He also played the role of Pete Davidson’s agent in Peacock’s BUPKIS.
The original 9-1-1 series began on Fox in 2018 but moved to ABC after six seasons. The spin-off, titled 9-1-1: LONE STAR, began in 2020 but was canceled after five seasons. Hopefully 9-1-1: NASHVILLE won’t be as woke as its previous counterpart, as Movieguide® previously reported:
Fox’s 9-1-1: LONE STAR had the makings of a very promising show. Rob Lowe plays a New York City fire chief, who survived the Twin Towers, and moves to Texas nearly 20 years later to give his son a better life.
One would think the show would support traditional conservative values, including patriotism, respect and family. However, the show seems to cling to a progressive agenda.
Lowe plays fire chief Owen Strand, who moves to Texas to head a fire department that lost nearly everyone in an explosion. Strand wants to shake up the department and hires diverse people to fill out his crew. The hires include Strand’s homosexual son, T.K., a transgender person and a Muslim woman…
Also in episode two, the lead paramedic, Michelle Blake played by Liv Tyler, turns to witchcraft to find her sister, who disappeared after an alleged domestic violence incident…
This series could be an excellent opportunity to showcase characters like the everyday heroes who run fire and paramedic departments. Instead, viewers are left with content that depicts gratuitous sex and violence
9-1-1: NASHVILLE will be written and executive produced by franchise co-creators Ryan Murphy and Tim Minear and LONE STAR’s showruner Rashad Raisani. It will premiere during the 2025-26 season.
