Grammy-nominated Christian group Sanctus Real says new single is “a declaration of what we believe is possible through Jesus.”

“We’ve all felt like hope has been missing in our world for a while,” lead vocalist Dustin Lolli said in a press release about “The Difference.”

He continued, “We go to churches all over the country, and it’s become one of our greatest mission fields, because we see so many depressed and sad people in the church. So, we are in a season of writing songs about hope. When you put your faith in Jesus, He doesn’t just give you hope; He is our hope.”

“This song points to one thing only as the reason we believe we are transformed into new creations, and that’s through a relationship with Jesus,” guitarist Chris Rohman added. “It’s a declaration of what we believe is possible through Jesus.”

“The Difference” is the follow-up to single “On The Mend,” which was released earlier this year.

Sanctus Real are currently finishing out a series of tour dates, and drummer Mark Graalman says that’s just how the band likes it.

“We still love getting out there on the road and meeting people and making that personal, face-to-face connection,” he explained. “We don’t want a screen to constantly be between them and us. We literally put it in our band name 29 years ago; we want to be real. We want everything we do to be authentic. I feel like we’re a better live band now than we’ve ever been.”

Sanctus Real is expected to announce a major headline tour soon and are also hard at work on songs for their next album.

“We love writing and releasing new music!” an Instagram post from the band’s account reads, accompanied by a video of Lolli singing “The Difference,” which he called “a powerful statement of belief in who Jesus is!”

Sanctus Real’s last album, All Along, was released in 2024.

“I look at this track listing and I realize how long this record has been in the making — four years! Some of these songs were written the month before the covid lockdowns in 2020,” a press release from the band reads. “Looking at those songs now I realize how perfect of a setup they were for moving us into the next few years.”

The statement continues, “Songs like ‘Won’t Let Me Go’ and ‘My God Is Still The Same’ really spoke to those following years’ sense of chaos. Moving past the crazy we got into songs about Hope like the new song ‘Victory‘ (probably my new favorite) and Dare to Hope. We even got back to some of our indie rock roots with the song When ‘The Good Times End’ — for any fans that go back all the way with us to our Fight the Tide album you’ll probably appreciate the tongue in cheek lyrics and edgy guitar vibe, but also the direct to the heart calling out of who we need to be when things don’t go our way.”
