Rumer Willis is honoring her father, Bruce Willis, in a special way as she takes on her latest acting role — doing her own stunts.

“When I’m on the sets, especially doing any sort of like physical stuff, I pulled the stunt guy Dale aside and I was like, ‘Listen, you need to show me how to make this look good because I’ve got a big-time legacy right here to make sure that I live up to, so none of this, like, sissy stuff,’” she joked in an interview with Extra TV.

Rumer stars in the recently-released TRAIL OF VENGEANCE, a movie that also paid tribute to her parents. She explained she chose to do the movie because both Willis and mom Demi Moore “did a Western” during their careers.

Jeff Fahey, one of Rumer’s co-stars, told the Springfield News-Leader she “did an amazing job,” adding, “Her performance stands on its own. She’s one of those layered characters that is ultimately the hero but has to go to some dark places to get there.”

Rumer also recently gave an update on her father’s condition. Willis was diagnosed with aphasia in 2022. The following year, his family announced his diagnosis had changed to frontotemporal dementia.

“He’s great. He’s really good,” Rumer said, adding that she definitely plans to show TRAIL OF VENGEANCE to her father.

In a 2024 interview, Rumer’s sister Tallulah told TODAY, “He’s doing stable, which, in this situation is good and is hard. There’s painful days, but there’s so much love.”

“It’s really shown me to not take any moment for granted, and I really do think that we’d be best friends,” she continued. “I think he’s very proud of me. You have to be in the moment. You have to be present.”

Moore has also given an inside look at her relationship with ex-husband Willis, telling PEOPLE she is most grateful “that regardless of what the outside relationship has been, we have maintained being a family in various forms. The foundation of making our children our priority has never wavered.”

Rumer agreed, saying, “Even when they split up, they created such a beautiful foundation of prioritizing my sisters and I that I never felt like I had to choose,” during an appearance on LOOSE WOMEN.

“They never played against each other. We were a family, and we still are very much a family, no matter what,” she continued. “Not only did I feel like that set me up in my life to have such a beautiful foundation of my own family, but now as I’m working through co-parenting as well, I feel deep gratitude for the example they’ve set.”

As Willis’ family continues to navigate this tough time, Rumer’s tribute to her dad and his legendary acting career is a sweet way for the pair to stay connected.
