Tim Allen loves diving into God’s word, recently sharing what he’s been reading in the Bible.
“Finished the Old Testament and it is such a gift when I get out of the way and the words and meaning flow. This week I am now in the book of the Gospel of Paul. A Roman Jew familiar with Plato, Stoicism, and other Greek schools of thought. I am amazed in seven pages!” the actor shared on X.
The HOME IMPROVEMENT star clarified in a follow-up post which book he is currently reading. “Ok specifically reading Apostle Paul’s letter to the Romans,” he said.

Hundreds of people in the comment section shared their thoughts on the topic.
“Reading Apostle Paul’s letter to the Romans is like stepping into the heart of the Gospel. It’s not just a theological breakdown….it’s Paul, led by the Holy Spirit, writing with urgency, clarity, and deep love for both Jew and Gentile believers,” one user said.
Another person added, “I call it Christianity 101. It’s Paul’s treatise how Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection personally applies to each one of us! 😁”
Earlier this year, Allen announced on X that he had completed reading the Old Testament.
“After nearly a year I have finished entire Old Testament and the experience of re reading, dedicated focus and no drifting has made this a humbling overwhelming experience. What a treasure. Three days into New Testament,” he said. The post contained a photo of Allen’s Bible with a bookmark in it.
Allen began posting his Bible reading updates last August. In a post that now has 2.6 million views, he said, “Never took the time in all my years to ever read and really read the Bible. Currently almost through the Jerusalem Bible Old Testament and almost done with the Prophets. Next up to New Testament. So far amazing and not at all what I was expecting.”
Allen has been open about his faith in recent years. In 2022, the actor shared that he wished faith would have been part of THE SANTA CLAUSES, the spinoff series of his ’90s Christmas movie THE SANTA CLAUSE.
“It originally had a lot of otherworldly characters, and ghosts, and goblins,” he said. “I said, ‘No, this is Christ-mas. It’s Christ-mas. It literally is a religious holiday.’ We don’t have to blow trumpets, but I do want you to acknowledge it — that’s what this is about. If you want to get into Santa Claus, you’re gonna have to go back to history, and it’s all about religion.”
Do you think Tim Allen is a Christian?
Allen previously shared that he began to question God after his dad was killed by a drunk driver when he was only 11. After his own battle with drugs and time in prison in 1978, Allen began to lean into his faith more.
Today, he is an example of what God can do with a heart that searches for Him.
