Professional tennis star Coco Gauff just won one of the biggest tournaments in her entire career, the French Open, and she couldn’t be more grateful.

“Wow. This means so much to me, truly….French Open champion🥹” Gauff wrote on X.

“I worked so hard for this moment, and for it to have happened is insane. Thank you, God ❤️, and thank you, everyone. This means the world…. I‘m still in shock, honestly can’t find the words, but all I can say for now is just thank you and never give up on your dreams🫶🏾” she added.

GOOD MORNING AMERICA called the 21-year-old phenom the “future of American tennis,” following her French Open title and second Grand Slam win.

With her win at the French Open, she became the first American to win the tournament since Serena Williams in 2015. Gauff is also the “youngest American women’s singles title winner there since 2002.”

She credited her fans for the victory.

“I would like to thank you guys. The crowd really helped me today. You guys were cheering for me so hard,” Gauff told the crowd after her big win.

She also celebrated with her parents and even took a picture with the ball kids with her trophy.

The tennis pro defeated “top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka in three sets. Sabalenka was visibly frustrated during the match, even yelling at her corner during the third set.”

The victory was a true test of Gauff’s determination, perseverance and willingness to win.

“After losing a tight first set tiebreak, Sabalenka stuck the landing, but Gauff stormed back, winning 11 of the final 17 games,” GMA said.

Three years ago, Gauff had a different result at the French Open.

“I was going through a lot of things when I lost in this final three years ago,” Gauff revealed, per The Guardian. “I’m just happy to be here, a lot of dark thoughts. Just the fact that I stayed to it just means a lot.”

She shared on Instagram that, at the time, doubts started to creep into her head. But because she overcame those thoughts, her win “means absolutely everything.”

Gauff’s ability to stay patient and trust her skills helped her succeed this time around, even though she had previously lost to Sabalenka twice in Madrid.

But all that is in the past since she “got the most important one, so I guess that’s all that matters,” Gauff declared.

Though her journey to a French Open championship title wasn’t easy, Gauff’s faith and hard work helped her succeed.
