Kat Von D opened up about a new component of her faith journey, sharing the “joy” it has brought her.
“One of my favorite parts of this European tour was that I was able to visit different Orthodox parishes throughout every country!” she captioned a video of her recent trip. “It brings me joy to share some of the beauty of Orthodoxy within these sacred (and historic) places with you, whether you are Orthodox Christian or not.”
Von D continued, “Since officially entering the Orthodox Church this last Pascha, many of you have lovingly asked to hear more about why I converted from Protestant to Orthodoxy — and after speaking about it with Archpriest Father Steven, he strongly (and wisely) encouraged me to refrain from going out and doing any public interviews etc about it until after at least a year. Which I think is great advice.”
However, she made it clear she doesn’t want to “hide” where she is, “spiritually speaking,” and is “OK in waiting until I am better equipped to represent the Church that I love so much.”
“In the meantime, I hope you enjoy peeking into this window,” Von D concluded. “It’s the biggest part of my life that most of the time I keep to myself and loved ones.”

Von D has been open about her journey to finding Christ, from turning away from the occult in 2022 to being baptized in 2023.
“I know that everybody’s on their own journey and it’s not for everybody, but this is where I’m at,” she said in one Instagram video about the baptism. “And to me, my baptism was a public demonstration of where I stand with my faith, and basically letting people know that I’m not ashamed.”
Von D has spoken publicly about the change faith has brought to her life as well.
“I’m on fire for Jesus,” she said during an episode of Allie Beth Stuckey’s “Relatable” podcast. “I don’t plan on this dimming out. The more I learn, the more excited I get about things.”
She continued, “I feel like I’m the best wife and the best mother I can be now because of the changes that I’ve had. I mean, it’s like a deprogramming has taken place. Things that I used to find attractive are disgusting to me, you know? And it’s like, I wish I could put into words like how amazing those changes are.”
While Von D is not yet ready to speak publicly about her conversion to Orthodoxy, her fans are happy she has found happiness in her new church and look forward to hearing more about it when the time comes.
