Atlanta Falcons running back Nathan Carter keeps his faith in Christ as the top priority in his life, and he wants the same for his fans on social media.

“Have You Truly Surrendered Your Life to Christ?” he asked his social media followers last week. “I mean, seriously. I’m not talking about that one day you recited a prayer the pastor told you to pray, or the one time you raised your hand when asked to ‘give your heart to God.’ I’m talking about truly giving your all, every part of your life, every thought, every desire, to Christ.”

The athlete went on to explain that there is a difference between knowing that God exists and truly knowing who God is.

“Coming to God through faith in Jesus means transferring ownership of your life to Him,” Carter explained. “It’s acknowledging that, apart from Christ, we are enemies of God because of our sin, deserving death and eternal separation. But through faith in Christ alone, our identity changes: we become sons, daughters, and friends of God. This means we no longer run our lives according to our own desires; we submit to Christ as Lord over every area of our lives.”

He shared that if we declare that Christ is Lord, then our lives should show that.

“If Christ isn’t Lord over every part of your life, have you truly surrendered? Accepting Jesus isn’t just about praying one Sunday morning; it’s about living under His lordship every day,” the running back continued. “Sure, saying ‘yes’ can be the start of a life-changing relationship, but just like in marriage, the vows only matter if you live them out daily. Jesus wants you, all of you. Until you surrender every area of your life to Him, are you really living?”

Carter doesn’t shy away from sharing his faith.

In June, he released his book If I’m Not By Your Side: Legacy of Faith and Wisdom for the Next Generation.

It it, Carter shares “the challenges that tested his faith alongside moments of joy, growth, and spiritual revelation that deepened his relationship with Christ.”

“This book has been on my heart for a long time, and I cannot wait to share it with you all! I pray that you’ll be encouraged, uplifted, and that hopefully you’ll take away something to share with others — and even pass down to the next generation,” he wrote in an announcement post.

Carter understands what it truly means to live for Jesus, and he wants the same for others as he explains how people can experience love, compassion, kindness, faithfulness and so much more in Christ.
