Every year, we mark September 11 by remembering the lives lost, the families impacted and the amazing heroic stories that rose out of the tragedy. As we look back, God’s word remains a source of hope and comfort that He is with us, even in the midst of heartache. May these verses bring strength and peace to those grieving today.
PSALM 34:18
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
As we remember those we lost, God draws near to those who are mourning and His love heals those suffering from heartbreak.
ROMANS 8: 38-39
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
This verse reminds us that no act of terror can separate us from God’s abiding love.
2 CORINTHIANS 1:3-4
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
This verse speaks boldly that God not only comforts us but calls His followers to comfort others, offering a pure reflection of how the church responds in a time of loss.
JOHN 1:5
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
In observance of 9/11, this verse reminds us that Christ’s light always shines, especially on the darkest days.
ISAIAH 41:10
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
This verse is a promise that God gives us strength and reassurance during challenging times.
