DESPICABLE ME 3 shows Gru losing his job with the Anti-Villain League and then meeting his long-lost twin brother, with whom he plans a heist against another villain so that Gru can get back his job. DESPICABLE ME 3 is a high octane, high energy mélange of several storylines that bring fast and furious jokes, fun, reconciliation, prayer, and family to the big screen.

MARCEL THE SHELL WITH SHOES ON is a live action Claymation comedy about a little seashell wearing tennis shoes who lives with his grandmother at a rental house and who becomes friends with a divorced documentary filmmaker, who puts popular videos of Marcel online. A celebration of family and community, MARCEL THE SHELL WITH SHOES ON is cute, funny, winsome, and sometimes profoundly beautiful and contains brief though implied Christian content, but there are some light profanities and themes of divorce, old age and abandonment.

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON (2025) – 10/10/2025
HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON is a live action remake about a scrawny but brainy Viking who befriends a new kind of dragon and tries to make peace between the dragons and his Viking village, including his father. HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON focuses more on spectacle and violence, so it’s missing some of the heart and joy of the original animated movie from 2010 and inserts more pagan Viking religion.

MADAGASCAR 3 – 10/1/2025
In MADAGASCAR 3: EUROPE’S MOST WANTED, Alex the lion and his zoo friends get back together for another adventure, this time hiding in a circus to avoid the animal police. MADAGASCAR 3 is hilarious entertainment with some redemptive content, but the plot may not always make sense because it’s moving so fast, and there’s some lying and brief scatological humor, so discuss this with younger children.

HUGO – 10/1/2025
HUGO follows the story of a young teenage boy who lives in the train station of Paris in 1930 and unlocks a secret that transforms his life and the crotchety godfather of his new friend, Isabelle. HUGO imaginatively presents the intelligent design argument for God and is filled with a childlike sense of wonder, adventure, and comedy and has an uplifting, redemptive ending, although there’s no mention of God other than iconography. Also, there are a few scary moments that require caution for younger children.

CURIOUS GEORGE – 10/1/2025
CURIOUS GEORGE, an animated movie based on the classic children’s series, stars the famous chimpanzee and his owner, The Man in the Yellow Hat, in a story about helping a museum threatened with closing. The drawings and story of CURIOUS GEORGE have a simple, funny charm full of fun and adventure, but the plot bogs down in a story about displaying a pagan idol to bring customers into the museum. Also, the movie’s worldview is humanist, with a few pro-evolution references.

ASTRO BOY is an animated science fiction movie about a robot boy who must battle an evil politician while trying to gain the approval of the scientist who made him. It is very exciting and action packed with strong moral themes and a redemptive, allegorical ending depicting Christian principles.
