Kirsten Storms, GENERAL HOSPITAL actress and star of millennial favorite ZENON: GIRL OF THE 21ST CENTURY, revealed her brain aneurysm diagnosis.
“In January (2025) I had a new scan done of my brain,” she posted on Instagram. “After my surgery in 2021, my *amazing* neurosurgeon (who ‘humors’ the jokes I make during my appointments – which is ok because he’s very smart) has been monitoring the cyst that he left on my brain, when he removed one that was causing me problems.”
She underwent surgery in 2021 to remove a noncancerous cyst on her brain, Fox News reported.
She explained, “The January scan happened because I had symptoms that the doctors thought could’ve been brain related. Ok – when I say that I was shocked when the doctors told me they found an aneurysm on the right side of my brain….welp, I basically launched into a standup comedy routine.”

The Cleveland Clinic website describes, “A brain (cerebral) aneurysm is a bulge in a weak area of a blood vessel in or around your brain. Most aneurysms are small and don’t cause issues. But a ruptured brain aneurysm is life-threatening.”
Storms then explained the procedure that discovered the issue.
“I had a procedure done that weekend, where the doctor threaded a camera from my leg up to my brain,” she began. “(It’s a routine procedure, but the path inside your body that they lead the camera through is *insane*… THE CAMERA GOES THROUGH YOUR ARMPIT, guys. Your. Armpit.) Anyway, because of the *slightly* complex situation with the aneurysm (nothing bad, just not typical), it wasn’t coiled that weekend.”
The endovascular coiling procedure blocks blood flow to the aneurysm, reducing the risk of rupture, Fox News said.
Storms explained how the sudden health issues led her to leave Los Angeles.
“Aneurysms (obviously) can be caused by stress,” she said, “Brain cysts? I believe that is possible too…and since the January scan showed a new, but very small, squatter (aka cyst) on my brain stem — it was clear I needed to change some things in my life asap.”
She added, “For my own personal reasons, no longer living in Los Angeles was very important to me. The biggest reason for the move was Harper, but a lot of it was for my physical and mental health. And my overall happiness.”
Storms currently lives with her GENERAL HOSPITAL costar Emme Rylan in St. Louis, Missouri, as the “neurology stuff makes me feel a bit of nervousness now.”
The 41-year-old actress is scheduled to have her aneurysm operated on later this month. Be praying for a successful surgery and quick recovery.
