Chip and Joanna Gaines’ eldest daughter, Ella, is taking the spotlight in FIXER UPPER: COLORADO MOUNTAIN HOUSE.
“Chip had an idea to let our daughter design the little cottage,” Joanna said in the series’ trailer.
“I’m accepting your challenge,” the 19-year-old said to her mom.
It’s the family’s first project that’s outside of Texas.
“I want it to feel like something that I put together for my family,” Joanna said. Chip added, “The only reservation is the idea of doing a project of this magnitude outside of Waco, Texas.”

Joanna talked to PEOPLE in 2020 about her kids being in FIXER UPPER.
“When we first started the show, they were younger, and since they’re a part of so much of what we do, it was just organic to include them,” she said. “But toward the end, I started noticing, they don’t necessarily love this.”
“Now, if they volunteer to be a part, we are more than happy, but we never want to just force it for a scene,” she said. “They can make that choice. We’ll see as much of the kids as they want to give us.”
That seems apparent in the trailer, as only the side of Ella’s face is shown, briefly.
The new series comes out Dec. 9 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Magnolia Network and HGTV, Warner Bros. Discovery announced. It teases new challenges, a bear sighting and more, TV Insider reported.
“There’s gonna be some moments that you’ll never forget on this property,” Chip said in the trailer.
“Colorado has come to be a special place for our family,” said Joanna. “And somewhere in-between ski trips and spring breaks over the last decade, a dream took root to one day carve out a place of our own. While taking FIXER UPPER out of state meant we were in for a steep learning curve, our hope is that this home would far outlast us, and we can’t wait to share it with you.”
Ella had her first semester of college somewhere in Texas this year.
Joanna said earlier this summer, “She’s excited about going somewhere and just being known for her. She’s like, ‘I don’t want anyone knowing that you’re…I just want to go and be myself.'”
“I’m excited for her to learn. She’s about to see some stuff,” she said. “She’s going to teach us stuff” — and we’ll get to watch it in FIXER UPPER: COLORADO MOUNTAIN HOUSE.
