Ray Romano can’t wait to be a grandparent in a few months! His daughter, Ally, is expecting her first baby in February.

“It’s our first one. I have two kids who got married last year, and I told them both… I wasn’t avoiding trying to be a grandpa, I was telling him to speed it up because we’re not getting any younger and I want to be able to lift them up,” Romano told PEOPLE at the thirtieth anniversary reunion of EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND.

“But my daughter’s having a baby in February, and I’m looking forward to it,” he added. “I only hear great things about it and I know what having a child is like and I think this is probably going to be the same joy without the same kind of being tired and not being able to do anything else.”

While Romano has a lot to look forward to at the start of next year, he reached a major milestone in October as well. His show, EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND hits its thirtieth anniversary, and Romano and much of the original cast got together to celebrate the event.

Despite the show ending in 2005, Romano had not seen all 210 episodes until recently.

“I got on a little kick there. I hadn’t seen the episodes. They took on a new look to me. I was appreciating them more,” the actor said. “I was very hard on them back then…But you see when you’re removed from it a little, I felt like an audience member.”

While Romano has a newfound appreciation for the show, fans should not expect a reboot anytime soon as Romano and his co-star Patricia Heaton both agree they have no interesting in attempting to bring back the show.

“I’m just a little protective of EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND,” Romano said last December. “Just because it was very personal to me.”

“It was just sort of perfection – and you don’t wanna mess with perfection,” Heaton added when discussing the topic in March. “You know, we’ve lost so many cast members, you couldn’t reboot it because it won’t be the same show.”

Thus, while an EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND reboot does not seem to be in the cards, Romano fans still have a lot to look forward to as one of their favorite actors embarks on a new journey. He can’t wait to welcome a new member of his family and enjoy the life of a grandparent.
