THE CHOSEN’s Jonathan Roumie recently shared the powerful testimonies of viewers who found faith through the show.

“Every so often, I randomly go through DMs on Instagram, for instance, because that’s the platform I’m most active on, and I just randomly will just pick — I pick two different people, and both of these people that wrote to me, happened to have been lifelong atheists and never had any interest in God,” he said while appearing on THE VIEW.

Roumie continued, “And somehow, somebody sent them the show, and all of a sudden, it’s like that first episode just kind of grabs hold of you. And if God wants to, He will find you. He will follow you. He will go after you.”

“Through the process of the show, they became interested in the Bible, and then they started going to the church, and they had both converted to Christianity. Lifelong atheists,” he said. “To me, that’s remarkable.”

Later in the interview, Roumie discussed the challenges of shooting the upcoming season of THE CHOSEN, which includes scenes of the crucifixion.

“It’s not just the physicality of recreating that; it’s the emotional impact that that has,” he said, via Crosswalk. “It’s the mental, the psychological impact of entering into Christ’s crucifixion and His torture…and I asked God to allow me some sense of what that would be like, and He didn’t disappoint, and it’s something that I’m still actively processing right now.”

Roumie also addressed how his “relationship to Christ” has influenced his performance as Jesus, as well as his everyday life.

“By taking on His love for humanity and trying to recreate that, it’s made me a better person. It’s made me want to love people,” he said.

THE CHOSEN’s creator Dallas Jenkins has spoken about Season 6, telling fans during a recent livestream that making this season was “the hardest thing we’ve ever done,” and that it was “one of the most challenging things in my life, personally and professionally.”

“It’s going to be a hard season,” he continued. “But it’s also a season that is about the greatest act of love that’s ever been committed in the history of the world. So as difficult as it’s going to be, I really do challenge you to make sure that you lean in and you engage, and that you get everything that you can out of every episode of Season 6 when we finally release it to you.”

Season 6 of THE CHOSEN is expected out later next year — we can’t wait!
