After Kirk Cameron saw how IGGY AND MR. KIRK Season 1 inspired kids and parents, the answer to whether to create a second season was a no-brainer.

“Parents all over the country and grandparents are rightly concerned about the moral content that’s being fed to our children,” the 55-year-old Teddy Bear Award® winner told The Christian Post. “If we fed our kids a steady diet of Skittles and Doritos and funnel cake, we would not be surprised if our kids turned out unhealthy. Well, that’s the digital equivalent of what many children’s TV shows are for kids, and it’s hurting them.”

The live-action puppetry show, ideal for kids ages 4-8, already has five new episodes of Season 2 available, with five more available on Dec. 10.

“Finally, a show you can feel good about,” the show’s website reads. “Iggy and Mr. Kirk bring laughter, lessons, and lasting values to every screen.”

Cameron said, “Parents began to write in saying, ‘This is what we’ve been looking for. This is like MR. ROGERS’ NEIGHBORHOOD for our generation. This is like SESAME STREET that’s pointing kids toward Scripture and truth and beauty and goodness.”

“We were like, ‘We did it…this was sending the football through the goal posts for children’s television,’ and we wanted to continue that trajectory with Season 2.”

Season 2 digs a little deeper and answers hard questions.

“Who am I? Why am I here? Who is my friend? Who can I trust? What is wisdom? Is everything I hear on the internet true?” Cameron said.

“What’s more important, my friends or my family?” he continued. “What does it mean to forgive somebody, and how do I ask for forgiveness? How do I love my enemies and people who think differently than I do?”

Cameron explained that the world and media are already hard to navigate for adults, so it’s that much harder for kids.

“The kinds of things that our grandparents never would have imagined that 5, 6, 7- and 8-year-olds would have to wrestle with,” he said. “Whoever would have thought that kids wouldn’t know whether or not they’re a boy or a girl? I mean, that’s like asking a kid their colors: is this green or yellow?”

“We’ve scrambled the understanding of biology and science and DNA,” he said. “Then we’ve deleted things like true religion, understanding what it means to love God and love your neighbor, to love others and treat them the way that you would like to be treated.”

These values used to be prioritized in America. Now, those values are forgotten by many.

“The classic shows that have stood the test of time don’t capitalize on shallow trends,” he said. “They focus on timeless themes we need to be reminded of.”

The show also addresses AI and emphasizes wise use of technology through a treehouse computer named Maple.

“This is not just ChatGPT or Siri, it represents wisdom, not just data,” Cameron said. “It helps Iggy build friendships, invest in family and live a life that’s blessed and protected.”

“My prayer,” he continued, “is that families sit down together, laugh together, learn together and that it sparks conversations that build faith, character and strong relationships that last long after the TV turns off.”

Movieguide® gave IGGY AND MR. KIRK EPISODE 1.1 a +4 rating.

Part of the review reads, “The episode places a strong emphasis on Christian and biblical values, teaching lessons on friendship, caring for others, preserving nature, selflessness, patience, generosity, and community.”
