Anne Wilson is sharing her stories through her songs and reminding fans that they can give their burdens to Jesus.

“I don’t know what you guys are going through tonight but I just want to say that this next song, I hope it’s a blessing to you tonight and I hope it reminds you that when you feel like you can’t carry it anymore, you can lay it at the feet of Jesus and he can carry you,” she said at a recent concert before singing “Carry Me.”

“Carry Me” is an honest song about feeling the weight of the world on her shoulders but realizing that Jesus can hold her. It’s an admission that she can’t do it all alone; she needs someone greater—Jesus.

How much can one heart take
When it’s taking on everything
I carry the weight of the world
Can someone carry me?
Jesus, can you carry me?
I need You to carry me

The emotional song comes out of her grief of suddenly losing her brother at age 15.

She said previously, “Recording ‘Carry Me’ was special. This is one of the most personal songs I’ve written and I can’t wait for you to hear more.”

Wilson told Songwriter Universe that “Carry Me” is “feeling like sometimes it can be so heavy in this life that we live in. This song is almost like a cry of help—someone help me carry what I’m going through in my life right now. And I feel like it’s a song that a lot of people can relate to, no matter what you’re going through in your life, and even people outside of the faith can relate to it as well.”

Country Music News said “Carry Me” is an anthem song for Wilson.

“This song provides permission to lay down the burden and admit need. It’s a balm for the weary and an anchor for the lost,” CCM said. “By blending a refined orchestral sound with the raw emotionality of her Southern roots, Wilson has delivered a CCM classic that will undoubtedly resonate deeply with listeners looking for comfort and strength. It’s an affirmation that even when we can’t walk, we are never truly alone.”

In general, Wilson brings a lot of vulnerability into her music. If you listen to her albums, you can tell her songs are completely hers and tell her personal stories. It makes her all the more relatable to young listeners.
