NCIS: ORIGINS is shaking things up with their mid-season finale, re-introducing a character that has the potential to cause some drama. Warning: spoilers ahead!
“The procedural finally puts Agent Herman ‘Herm’ Daniels back out in the field with Mike Franks’ (Kyle Schmid) team in NCIS: ORIGINS Season 2,” Comic Book Resources reported.
The outlet shared that Herm has “been out of commission since NCIS: ORIGINS Season 1” and that the character hasn’t been in the field since Season 2 Episode 8, “due to an incident he had while on duty, wherein he froze up and wasn’t able to do his job.”
Herm’s return means the NCIS team is up a member, joining the rest of the crew as they investigate crimes — and changing the team’s dynamic.

There are also plenty of cliffhangers fans are waiting to see the results of in the remaining episodes of Season 2
“We never shy away from writing ourselves out of corners,” co-showrunner Gina Lucita Monreal told Parade. “That’s kind of when we come up with our best stuff.”
Co-showrunner David J. North added, “We just kind of go for it and figure it out.”
This isn’t the only shake-up coming to NCIS: ORIGINS. It was recently announced that Monreal will not be returning for Season 3.
“It’s been the biggest honor of my career to write NCIS: ORIGINS alongside my incredible co-showrunner and friend David North,” Monreal said in a statement. “I want to thank Amy Reisenbach, David Stapf, and everyone at CBS Network and Studio for their support. To have had this opportunity to work again with the incomparable Mark Harmon, Sean Harmon, our writers, and the best cast and crew in the business — how lucky am I? I can’t wait to see what this extraordinary group cooks up for Season 3.”
North, who will remain on the show, added, “Long before Gina was my incredible writing partner on NCIS: ORIGINS, she was, and remains, one of my closest friends. I couldn’t have imagined launching this show with anyone else, and even though Gina won’t be working with us on a daily basis next season, the characters and stories she helped create will live on. I can’t wait to team up with her again in the future.”
NCIS: ORIGINS Season 2 will pick back up March 3 on CBS.
