Sadie Robertson Huff’s youngest daughter, 8-month-old Kit, has had some recent health issues, but God gave Huff peace in the scariest of moments.

“Kit went in an ambulance at night to the hospital, and you called Mom,” she said to her husband, Christian, “and you were like, ‘Hand the phone to Sadie.’ And you said, ‘I just want to let you know that there’s been a rainbow over the ambulance the whole time we’ve been riding to the hospital.'”

When she heard that, she felt God’s peace over her family.

“And that was a really big moment for me ‘cause I just felt like the Lord was just with us and making this promise like ‘I have you all,’ and that really meant a lot and gave a lot of peace,'” Huff said.

Kit has had to go the hospital several times in the past month for choking incidents.

“As a mom, there are moments that leave you desperately crying out to God…this was one of those moments for me!” Huff wrote in an Instagram post.

“Part of me wanted to keep it private and process it quietly as a family, but as I’ve prayed through it, I kept feeling reminded that testimony matters. Not because everything was easy or because we handled it perfectly, but because God was faithful through it all,” she said.

Taste of Country reported that Kit was diagnosed with severe laryngomalacia, and her choking was caused by food getting pulled into her airway or lungs. She underwent surgery, but only after it was rescheduled twice due to Kit coming down with rhinovirus and then a severe cough. After she finally had the surgery, Kit was much better and able to take a bottle immediately.

Her noisy breathing, which she’s had since she was a newborn, is also resolved.

“When we did the surgery, it was wild getting to see the before and after pictures,” Huff said. “Because it was severe. Her airway was completely covered.”

When Kit’s first incident happened, Huff had to perform CPR.

“Within seconds, you could tell the severity of the situation. My mom pulled her from the high chair and placed my girl into my arms just as she stopped breathing,” she said. “Everyone went into action and into prayer. Mom called 911, I started CPR, and everyone began to pray out loud and move the other kids downstairs.”

After she performed CPR, Kit coughed and breathed again.

Huff said of Kit’s health trial, “I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: You don’t ever want to have to experience a miracle. Because when you go through a miracle it means you had to go through a moment of desperation.”

Praise God for Kit’s health!
