‘A Huge God Story’: Oregon QB Bo Nix Praises God for Success

By Movieguide® Contributor

Oregon football quarterback Bo Nix thanked God for his success throughout his last two years with the Ducks.

In an interview with ESPN’s SPORTSCENTER, Nix was asked where his success comes from.

“Well, that one’s easy to me,” he replied without hesitation. “It’s all about, you know, the Lord’s timing in my life. It’s been a huge God moment. It’s been a huge God story for me. You know, I just kept to the plan and kept faith, and you know, ultimately, he put me where I needed to be at the right time. And I had a great time at Auburn, and I learned a lot. And I graduated from there, and it was a great experience.”

“And then I had the opportunity to transfer to Oregon where it’s just been an awesome experience. You know, I wouldn’t trade it for the world,” he added.

Nix has been circulated as a potential Heisman trophy recipient. Although he knows it’s a tremendous honor, he’s staying focused on the National Championship.

“It’s crazy. You know, it’s something that I’ve always dreamed about, you know, with it being, you know, the situation, it’s gotten crazier and crazier as the year’s gone on,” Nix said. “But I know there’s a bunch of guys out there that are definitely worthy of the award. So, you know, it’s a huge honor, but at the same time, we got to keep the main thing the main thing and make sure that we are prepared and ready for Friday.”

Another blessing that’s come from Nix’s time with the Ducks is that he gets to play with his adopted brother, Tez Johnson.

Johnson is a wide receiver for the team and currently has 70 catches, 943 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns.

“It’s been almost like a movie,” Nix said of the opportunity to play with his brother. “You know, it’s something that I never really thought would come back around. You know, we played together in high school, and to have the opportunity to play again with him in college has been a dream come true.”

“And you know, his dream school was Oregon the whole time,” he continued. “So I feel like we’re living out both of our dreams at the same time and to be able to do it together it’s just nothing short of amazing.”

Movieguide® recently reported on Nix:

According to 247Sports, “Nix was announced the winner along with the rest of the league’s Player of the Week honors during a Monday afternoon press release by the Pac-12 Conference. Nix led the Ducks to their fifth straight by beating Arizona State 49-13 down in Tempe. The Ducks scored on their first six offensive possessions of the game, while Nix finished with 404 yards passing, six passing touchdowns, and he completed 82.8 percent of his throws in the game.”

Oregon head coach Dan Lanning said, “Obviously I have an opinion about our quarterback, but it’s pretty hard to say he’s not the best quarterback in the nation. Throws for six touchdowns, ties a record for Oregon football, goes over 400 yards and only played one series in the second half. We all know what it could’ve looked like.”

After Saturday’s win against Arizona State, Bo Nix said, “We’re doing what we’re supposed to do and executing. Offensively, we just do what we do, and we go out there and compete every Saturday. We do our best to go out there and put a product on the field that we’re proud of and that we can grow from. I think when you look at our entire offense, there’s not a weakness.”
