Another time, I was filming in South Africa during the uprisings against Apartheid. In the middle of the production, I had to leave South Africa to keep my word to return to the states to preach at the downtown Los Angeles African American Pentecostal church that helped to start a major television ministry.
The plane was delayed for many hours by an ox cart on the runway, which the airline personnel thought might have been a terrorist bomb. As the minutes dragged, I prayed that I would make the Los Angeles church service on time and that all my baggage would arrive on time and safely, since I had in my luggage the film footage that we had shot.
When I arrived in London, I was informed there was no way I could get to Los Angeles and that my bags were lost. I suggested that the airline try an alternative route and alternative airline to get Los Angeles, perhaps even through Japan. They found a simpler route through Chicago!
In Chicago, I was told that the bags were nowhere to be found, including all the film footage that I had shot in South Africa.
Upon landing at LAX in the middle of the night when all was closed, I dutifully marched from one airline terminal to another, checking with each airline on which I had flown, to see if they could find my baggage, believing that God had honored my prayer. It was so late that everything had shut down by the time I got to the last airline.
Finally, I walked back to the first terminal again. I looked around the room, and it was empty. I peered into the locked suitcase enclosures. There was nothing. Everything was barren. The bags were nowhere.
However, I had prayed and knew everything was possible for God. So, I praised God for answering my prayers in spite of appearances.
I started to walk off, and I found myself tripping over my bags right around me in the middle of the terminal empty hall. Miraculously they had made it around the world and been brought to me, and the bags had been cleared through customs security all the way from sanctioned South Africa.
