Anne Wilson reminded us of the power of prayer — with a little help from fellow artist Lainey Wilson!

“On this National Day of Prayer, I’m reminded that prayer isn’t just something we do… it’s where we run to,” she posted on X last week, along with a video of the singers performing their duet “Praying Woman.”

Wilson continued, “I’ve seen what God can do through a praying woman — the quiet faith, the tears, the surrender, the strength that only comes from Him. It changes things. It changes us. Whatever you’re carrying today, you don’t have to hold it alone. Take it to Jesus. He’s listening.”

The singer previously spoke to PEOPLE about collaborating with Lainey, sharing that they had been DMing for years before she asked Lainey to join her for a writing session.

“I was so nervous because I love Lainey,” Wilson recalled. The pair, inspired by their mothers, wrote “Praying Woman,” which was featured on Wilson’s 2024 album REBEL

She continued, “[Lainey’s] exactly 10 years older than me. She’s a big sister to me. She’s got so much experience that she’s been so gracious to share and kind of be a mentor to me.”

In an interview with Holler, Wilson added, “[Lainey and I] had been friends before. But as we got to work on the song together and seeing her passion behind it and her belief, it was inspiring, just going, ‘We can link arms and go on this journey together, put the song out there and see where it goes’. It definitely reassured me that I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing in the right genre.”

Wilson has been open about her decision to bring a little more country influence to her music, telling PEOPLE that Nashville exec Cindy Mabe was the one who asked her to consider the idea.

“I was hesitant at first,” she explained. “I said, ‘I’m not gonna change who I am to do country music.’ And she said, ‘We want you to be exactly who you are. We don’t want you to change a thing, and we need you to bring God back into country music.’”

Wilson admitted it “can feel hard” to perform her faith-filled songs in front of country audiences, but said, “Every time I do, I feel so glad I did it. Someone will always come up to me after the show and say, ‘Hey, I’ve never heard of you before, but I needed your message of hope tonight.’”

“Why am I actually doing this?” she asked herself, then answered: “It’s for God.”
